Why is he doing that . She says she has no choice, otherwise she would violate the rules of procedure. Many here in athens believe she is doing that on purpose. It is wellknown that she is against the bailout package. She is accusing the Leftwing Party of following orders even by the european union. It is quite clear that she would do everything under the possible under the law to delay or even obstruct the vote. Sarah what are the chances that Prime Minister tsipras will get this legislation through . Reporter i think at the end of the day Prime Minister tsipras will have a majority and will approve the bailout package. Lets remember this, tsipras has 149 seats in the 300 seat parliament. There have been similar votes last month where more than 35 mps of the coalition have voted against tsipras and some say they may have more defenders. Sarah its not even just tsipras, its looking as if the party itself may not survive intact. There are rumors of an impending split. What more do you know . Reporter the chief of the internal leftwing opposition has indicated he may build a new lyrical party. He probably believes that his time has now come. Many believe that after tonights vote, he will build his own party in order to fight against the bailout package against the european union. Sarah we will know a lot more in a few hours. The turkish Prime Minister says he wants another ballot as soon as possible. His Ruling Ak Party lost its majority in june. They spent weeks negotiating with the main opposition group, but the Prime Minister said the differences were too great. What is next for turkey . Thats the question hanging in the air after the breakdown of coalition talks. It seems fresh elections are likely, but when is still unclear. We can say that after trying everything, the possibility of going to the polls again is very high. That may even be the only option. Turkey has been in political limbo since the last elections in june. Then the Ruling Ak Party lost its majority. Ever since, the Prime Minister has been holding talks with the opposition party, the chp. The chp see things very differently. We never received a proper coalition offer, said the party leader. He insists the ak was never really interested in joining forces. Those words will only fuel criticism of the president and ak founder. It was a major blow when the ak lost its majority. Many turks believe he has been pushing for Election Rerun hoping his party will regain old strength. One key factor could work in aks favor. Since the last election, there has been a major upsurge in violent between kurdish rebels and Security Forces. After the last election, the ak lost many seats. Erdogan has directly blamed the party for inciting violence, but critics say erdogan is exploiting the conflict for his political ends. Many will be hoping for a quick resolution. Sarah some people are linking the turkish governments renewed campaign against kurdish militants with the political stalemate. It is often innocent civilians who get caught in the crossfire. Our reporter met up with residents of one village hit by turkish warplanes. Reporter these are the remnants of the village, scattered reminders that people once lived here. Scene of destruction is a scar on the surrounding landscape. The apparent targets were kurdish rebels from turkey nonis the kurdistan workers party, or the pkk. The real victims were 10 civilians from the same extended family. The shop owner says the warplanes arrive before dawn in early august. People from the village rushed to help the elderly woman in the house that was targeted. But then they were all killed by second bomb. People here want to know why they have been targeted. They bomb this area every few years. Here and other villages. They have killed other families. Some years back, several members of the same family were killed by turkish airstrike. The mounds became a pkk stronghold after the group made gains in the region 20 years ago. As part of an autonomous region ruled by the kurdish capital. Turkey and the pkk have been criticized for killing innocent people. If the pkk decision is to fight and break the peace process, yes, we urge them to move from the areas that are inhabited. But the pkk says turkey is to blame and rejects the call to pull forces out of kurdish territory. By saying that pkk is the reason people here are getting killed, the katie p is supporting turkey the ldp is supporting turkey. This area belongs to our fighters. They lived together with other people, but that does not mean civilians should be targeted. The people continued to flee their homes. We are leaving for another town. There is no live here. Firefighters picking their way through the wreckage. The area affected by the blast transformed into a ghostly landscape of destruction. Rescue workers rushed the wounded to hospital, some 700 residents have been injured, at least 71 of them seriously. Buildings kilometers away from the blast were hit. We thought it was an earthquake, then we saw the glass door and the iron a fly off their hinges. Three people severely injured, three others have minor injuries. Cleanup operations have been underway since Early Morning and the local authorities calling in military help. Firefighters are still working to contain the blaze in an area reportedly used to store toxic chemicals and gas. We are facing a very complicated situation. We want to prevent further loss of life. Before we know what sort of materials are stored at the explosion site, we must be very prudent and cautious. So we asked the military for their help. At the same time, we have those reports we have also reports saying that the state owned banks in china are actually selling dollars in order to prop up the chinese currency, in order to prevent it from falling further. Reporter this would get a lot of countries on edge when it comes to currencies. We would probably been see other emerging markets also trying to devalue their currency. We have the famous or infamous slogan of currency wars popping up during the last year, already talking about other emerging markets that face the same battle, the battle against the strong u. S. Dollar. So that might actually be the case if china went down that road. Reporter isnt there also a flipside to this, that china is in fact liberalizing their currency . Its a little bit of a complicated story, but i think they want to please the imf, in order to also get their currency as one of the currencies the imf seems to deems to be a reserve currency and have it included in their basket of different currencies. They only consider that every five years, and this year is one of those five years. So i think they have more reasons to actually try to please the imf. What do you think about this idea of a battle of the world currencies . The imf now seems its quite happy about its evaluation. I talked to a couple of people here on wall street, and they dont really see a currency war yet between china and the united states. Even politically, hardly anybody is calling out about this point. If you look at china and the united states, economically they are so connected that if you look at the lower you want at this point, the u. S. Imports much more from china than they export to china. So there is even a positive effect on the u. S. Economy if the yuan appreciates more. Theres a lot going on on the commodity side of the market. The stock market got a big white or, but crude oil prices dropped by another 2. 5 today, reaching the lowest level in about 6. 5 years. It has to do with the weaker Economic Outlook for china. In the past couple of days we had a little bit of a rebound with gold prices because with all the turmoil in china, investors were seeking the socalled safe haven of gold. What we are witnessing in burma is more a modernization of democratization. The reforms we have seen so far in burma have all been named at decreasing international pressure, dropping sanctions, Encouraging International investment, so that burma can become a more modern but still authoritarian regime. The current president is definitely not a democratic reformer. So it is unlikely to have any broader impact on the process that is going on. The people in burma, it will make very little difference. Neither of them are committed to ending human rights abuses in burma are bringing democracy to the country.
