DOUBLE SHOOTING. THIS YEAR HAS ALREADY BEEN A WET ONE IN NEW ORLNSEA AND HURRICANE SEASON. WELL, IT’S JUST GETTING STARTED. THAT’S WHY THE CITY IS CONSTANTLY LOOKING FOR WAYS TO MANAGE WATER AND TONIGHT. WE’RE LEARNING NEW INFORMAONTI ABOUTTS I GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE WDSU’S MORGAN LENTES LIVE IN GE NTILLY TO EXPLAIN IN A STORE YOU ONLY SEE ON SIX MORGAN. HEY GUYS. YEAH, SO IF YOU LIVE IN THIS AREA, YOU PROBABLY HEARD OF THE PONTILLI PROCTJE CITY LEADERS SAY IT’S A WAY TO USE AVAILABLE GREEN SPACE LIKE THIS GOLF COURSE BEHIND ME TO COMBAT FLOODING AND SOME RESIDENTS. TELL ME IT’S ALREADY WORKING. EVERY YEAR WE’RE SEEING AN INCREASE IN THE FREQUENCY AND THE INTENSITY OF HOW MUCH RAIN WE GET. WHEN IT RAINS IT TDSEN TO POUR IN NEW ORLEANS MEANING FLOODING WON’T BE FAR BEHIND SOE W HAVE TO START THINKING OF DIFFERENT WAYS TO ACTULYAL MANEAG THAT WATER MAKING WILLIAMS IS THE STORM WATER PROAMGR MANAGER FOR THE CITY. SHE SAYS GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE IS A NEW APPROACH TO AN OLD PROBLEM. WHAT THIS SECTION DOES IS ALLOW WATER TO CEOM OFF OF THE STREET AND ENTER INTO IS STORMWATER A LOT THAT WE SEE HERE AND SORT OF FILL UP OVER TIME THIS STORM DRAIN LOT ON LOUISA DRIVE SERVES AS A POND COLLECTGIN WATER WHEN IT RAINS INSTEAD OF JUST IMME DIATELY PUTTING IT UNDERGROUND DAN FORCING THE PUMPS TO HAVE TO DO A LOT MEOR WORK. WE’VE CREATED THIS THIS PROJECT THAT SPANS THROUGH THE TWO NEIGHBORHOODS THAT IN TOTAL CAN HO LD ABOUT NINE MILLION GALLONS OF WERAT THAT INCLUDES PORTIONS OF BARTHOLEWOM GOLF COURSE NEAR WHERE MADERA ROGER HSENRY LIVES ANYTHING THAT’S ABOUT SAVING. THE PLANET IS A GOOD STEP. ESH SUPPORTS THE PROJECT ON PRINCIPAL AND BECAUSE IT’S IMPROVED DRAINAGE IN HER NEIGHBORHOOD. IT'’ QUITE FRANKLY PRETTY IT’S PRETTIER AND IT DOES DOHE T JOB. SHE STILLAS H CONCERNS ABOUT HURRICANES AND THEIR POTENTIAL IMPACTS. SO THAT IN ITSELFAKES M ME UNCOMFORTABLE SOMETHING CITY OFFICIALS. SAY IS UNDERSTANDABLE. IT’S NOT THE END-ALL BE ALL. IT HAS TO BE LIKE I SAID A COMBINED APPROACH WITH OUR SUBSURFACES AND UPGRADING DRAINAGE WHERE POSSIBLE BUT WHEN YOU COMBINE THE TWO THEN YOU GET A A MUCH MORE WIDESPREAD EFFECT. SO COULD A SIMILAR PROJECT LIKE THE ONES HERINE GENTILLY BE COMING TO YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE FUTURE. I’LL HAVE THE ANSWER COMING UP ALL NEW AT SIX FOR NOW REPORTING
