Lima woman charged with stabbing cop now competent to stand trial

Mary Spurlock appeared via Zoom at a competency hearing held Tuesday in Allen County Common Pleas Court. Judge Jeffrey Reed said that medical experts have deemed Spurlock competent to stand trial on a charge of felonious assault for allegedly stabbing an Allen County deputy in 2019.

LIMA – A Lima woman who previously had been deemed not competent to stand trial for stabbing an Allen County deputy with his own knife has, after a year of psychiatric treatment, had her competency restored.
