Life brief: Long deployment ends for local sailor

Marion native returns from 11-month deployment aboard USS Nimitz
Bremerton, WA - A 2016 Pleasant Local School graduate and Marion native recently returned to Bremerton, Washington, marking the end of an 11-month deployment aboard aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) to the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operation.
Fireman Jaden Mauk is a machinist's mate aboard the carrier. As a machinist's mate, Mauk is responsible for operating and performing maintenance on the ship's auxiliary equipment.
"My favorite part of my job is working with my shipmates; we're like a family," said Mauk.
