The Liberal Democrats have taken overall control of St Albans District Council after a fine set of election results.
The city’s MP, Daisy Cooper, has hailed the news as "amazing" after the 2021 local election count held at Batchwood Sports Centre.
Although the council was being led by Liberal Democrat Chris White, it had been in no overall control since 2019 after the Conservatives lost vital seats - the Tories had previously been in control of the council.
After the latest set of votes, the council is now represented by 30 Lib Dem councillors, along with 23 Conservatives, two from Labour, two Independents, and a Green councillor.
