A retired judge says it "one of his greatest honours" to be elected as a new county councillor.
Liberal Democrat Laurence Brass has been selected by residents as the new Hertfordshire county councillor for north Bushey following the 2021 local elections.
Mr Brass' election is a notable because the seat had been held by Conservative representative Jane West, who was vying to extend her term in the area.
Mr Brass has lived in Bushey since 1972, and served as a Hertsmere borough councillor in the 70s before he was forced to give up his political career when he became a judge.
