PLAYING in public for the first time as a band since before the first lockdown, an award winning brass band is preparing for its first gig for more than a year.
The Swaledale Festival has organised free family fun days on Reeth Green over the bank holiday weekend and Leyburn Band are performing on the Sunday.
With face to face meeting now allowed, the band's conductor some time ago had advised members to resume regular sessions at home, if they haven’t already been doing so.
Recently the band has been utilising the outside space at the Garden Rooms at Tennants to build up their stamina, as playing for any length of time can be hard work.
