Have we reached critical maths?
I recently read an article by Richard Prebble (NZ Herald, December 16) on why our Year 9 children were failing basic maths questions.

a principal. "We do not do as well as we did in cultural activities," he answered. "Our pupils get one chance to learn maths; they have a lifetime to appreciate culture."
