Becker County should not encourage illegal activity as an official policy. It is unethical and problematic for taxpayers.

To the editor:
Becker County taxpayers owe a debt of gratitude to County Commissioners Barry Nelson, John Okeson, and Don Skarie. They are protecting us by exercising sound judgment.
Earlier this year, The Becker County Board of Commissioners passed resolution 06-20-1E, titled “Constitutional and Business Friendly Community.” Support for local business is intended by the resolution but there are unintended consequences. The resolution encourages on-sale liquor establishments to engage in activity which is in contravention of state emergency executive orders. Each alcohol sale becomes an illegal sale. A business acting on encouragement by the resolution, potentially, may lose their liquor license and suffer other financial losses. The resolution, as originally written, is not business friendly!
