With all the federal stimulus money being given to the state, it’s time to help Albany, Cohoes, Waterford and Troy with summer recreation programs. Albany could be helped by restarting the daily daytime CDTA bus to Thacher Park’s visitor center this year and adding a CDTA shuttle bus from the Thatcher’s visitor center to Thompson’s Lake Park via the back entrance on Stan Levine Drive to allow for day use swimming. A larger bathhouse could be constructed for next year but this year the existing baths and showers would have to be used. Cohoes, Waterford, and Troy could be helped by using the funds to build a swimming pool at Peebles Island State Park; if they start quickly, it could be ready next year. It’s time for projects like this that have been delayed for many years to be implemented.
