Leon County Schools officials will not require staff or students to receive a COVID-19 vaccine — the public school district does not determine which diseases students must be immunized against.
On April 5, teenagers 16 and older and adults will be eligible for the two-dose Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. And local K-12 education officials are encouraging employees and students who are eligible to be vaccinated.
“We’re not requiring (a COVID-19 vaccination) by any means, but we’re encouraging people to get the vaccination, without question," Assistant Superintendent Alan Cox told the Tallahassee Democrat on Thursday. Cox oversees health and wellness in the district.
