TRANSFORMING an old car wash into new flats and new shops marks a significant step forward in the rejuvenation of Leigh Broadway, it has been claimed.
Council bosses are set to give ambitious plans for 120 Broadway the green light next week, in the latest major development in the area.
The site is opposite the Grand Hotel - which is being converted in 18 new flats - and is just doors away from the popular Garrards restaurant.
Paul Gilson, Leigh Town Council chairman, admitted the site had become an “eyesore” and welcomed all improvements.
He said: “There’s been a of back and forth with different plans for the site and it’s in a bad way.
