"I urge the mayors and other elected officials of the province to work for peace and unity," she said in her message during the ceremony held in the municipality of Culasi on Tuesday. Legarda officiated the oath-taking of incoming officials from the towns of Libertad, Pandan, Culasi, Tibiao, and Laua-an. She said she will be working closely for the good of the province, through her brother Congressman-elect Antonio Agapito Legarda, and the cooperation of the local government leaders is necessary for the smooth implementation of the projects and in pushing for the further development of Antique. The outgoing lady solon of the province said when she ran in 2019, incumbent Culasi Mayor Jose Jeffrey Lomugdang was with a different party but seeing the advantages of being united, he decided to finally join the local coalition LCD ( which stands for Legarda, Governor Rhodora Cadiao, and Vice Governor Edgar Denosta) in the last May polls. A day after she took her oath here together with other elected officials in the southern part of the province, Cadiao worked out a separate ceremony for municipal officials in the northern part of Antique and for her to have another swearing-in in her hometown of Culasi. The governor vowed to work hard to bring more projects to the province. "I would like to leave behind a legacy where the people are no longer wanting of development," she said. Her dream of making Antique the "Star in Western Visayas" can also be realized through the unity of the officials and the people, Cadiao added. (PNA) }
