LEESBURG — It all began with a word: memoir.
Leesburg resident Shakira McGee, a small business owner and mother of three, feels God bestowed the "rhema word" upon her in 2018
Fast forward to 2020 and that word came to life: McGee was challenged with what would become some of the hardest times of her life.
“I was going through a divorce and tested positive for COVID-19 and that word just manifested,” McGee said. “It became clear to me that I was to write a memoir of everything I was going through.”
But this time, she said, the word from God transformed into a sentence that inspired her to start writing a poem which would eventually become the first poem in her book, “Pain Pushed Me Into My Purpose,” a poetry memoir.
