A Leander man is accused of paying a teenage girl for sex. Christopher Churchwell, 36, was charged with prostitution and sexual assault of a child. Both charges are second-degree felonies, each punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
The 16-year-old victim from Austin told investigators at the Texas attorney general's office that another man, who has not been charged, had "pimped her out" by posting photos and ads of her on Snapchat, the affidavit said.
After officials got a search warrant for the victim's cell phone, they found a text conversation on it between the victim and Churchwell in which he agreed on June 3 to pay the victim $100 and a new iPad for sex, according to the affidavit.
