Hiding John A. away doesn’t solve issue
The removal of the statues of Sir John A. Macdonald from public spaces presents a lost opportunity. Gone is the possibility of setting out his mistakes as well as his accomplishments. These mistakes, like the statues, have been hidden away from public view. We are now dependent on our school system to teach us that sad history. And in Saskatchewan, a single Canadian history course is offered in high school. It is not a mandatory requirement to graduate.
