Latest MSC Cruises ships to feature ‘cutting-edge’ environmental technologies
The company is also joining EU-backed CHEK Consortium to promote low-carbon shipping

MSC Cruises is to introduce two new ships in 2021 equipped with a wide range of latest-generation technologies and equipment minimising their environmental impact.
MSC Virtuosa and
MSC Seashore are set to feature hybrid exhaust gas cleaning systems and selective catalytic reduction systems achieving a 98% reduction of sulphur oxide emissions and reducing nitrogen oxide emissions by 90%.
What’s more, their wastewater treatment systems have been designed in line with the International Maritime Organization’s MEPC 227(64) Resolution and achieve purification standards that are higher than most wastewater treatment facilities ashore, the company said.
