GOOD EVENING EVERYONE I'M ERIN CLA. RK DAN GREEN IS OFF TONIGHT. WEEG BIN TONIGHT... WITH A POPULAR CENTRAL COAST SECOND HAND STORE SET TO RE-OPEN SOON.. WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE "LAST CHANCE MERCANTILE" LOCATED AT THE MARINA LAFINDLL.. THE STORE CLOSED MORE THAN A YEAR AGO BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC.. BUT THIS TIME A NON- PROFIT IS TAKING OVER .. WITH MORE ON THE STORE'S REOPENING AND WHO WILL RUN IT WE GO TO ACTION NEWS 8 REPORTER.. FELIX CORTEZ LIVE IN MARINA.. # ## ERIN.. THAT OPERATOR IS THE "VETERANS TRANSITION CENTER" HERE IN MARINA .. WHICH FOR YEARS HAS HELPED THOUSANDS OF HOMELESS VETS GET BACK ON THEIR FEET.. NOW THEY'RE HELPING TO BRING BACK A SHOPPING FAVORITE.. the veterans transition center close to wrapping up their remodeling of e th "last chance mercantile" at the marina landfill.. the popular second hd an store has been shut down since last year when the state went into lockdown .. (TIM 16:05 And our partnership with vtc is goin alltog ow the last chance mercantile to come back to allow us to get back to the reuse portion of our mission here :14) but it's new mission will be more than just re-us. e. it'll also be about helping homeless vets reintegrate into society.. the veterans transition center will offer job oppotunities and training to homeless veterans at the store.. (TORI 11:02 it's really important to take the people who have be en written off in society and give them a second chance give them an opportunity to get back into the workforce give them skills help th em build a resume all of those things :13.. you know helping veterans move from crisis to self sufficicy en :18 is really what we're all about :19) the store will offer t he same hours and bargains customers have enjoyed for years.. these pictures offering a glimpse of the new shopping experience the VTC is hoping to create.. (13:31 We're trying to walk that line between respecting the heragite and history of this place and updating it to make it more shoppable but also affordable :41) and the VTC will useny a profits from the second hand store to support and further enhance their homeless programs. AND THE CENTER WRAPPING UP RENOVATIONS AND WILL ANNOUNCE A REOPENING DATE SO
