The Lake Country woman seriously injured when she was struck by a vehicle while walking home last week is still in a medically-induced coma, but the generosity she’s received from the community is helping buoy the spirits of her support network.
Ashley Paxman, 29, was injured Feb. 18 just after 9 p.m., when a brown Acura driven by an elderly motorist struck her, RCMP said. Paxman was discovered when the driver told someone they thought they may have hit something, sparking a search. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Tasha Meuser said Paxman, who’s her cousin, has a bleed on each side of her brain that has the potential for long-term damage and it's looking like it will be a long road to recovery.
