Lafayette school employees thanked for work during 'extraordinarily tough year'

School employees across Lafayette Parish received a special treat when they arrived to work early Friday morning. While coffee and donuts were a nice surprise, the goodie bags of bluetooth headphones and handwritten thank-you notes stole the show.
The gifts were made possible through Love Our Schools, a community initiative started in 2019 that works to support the Lafayette Parish School System and everyone it serves.
Volunteers from Acadiana nonprofits joined area students and district staff to write notes and stuff bags for three days leading up to Friday's special delivery.
Organizers wanted everything to stay a surprise, so S.J. Montgomery Principal Roneka Coleman just sent an email Thursday telling her staff to arrive early the next day.
