Lafayette police: 3-year-old mortally wounded after apartment shooting

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Police arriving at the scene of Monday night's killings found 3-year-old Datoria Kaprice Roberts lying in front of the apartment at 3055 Mount Court in the Romney Meadows Apartment complex, according to prosecutors.
Inside, police found Datoria's mother, 22-year-old Victoria Moore, dead on the kitchen floor, according to prosecutors. She was pronounced dead a short time later at a Lafayette hospital. Datoria died at an Indianapolis hospital.
Nearby on the kitchen table, police found a handgun with an extended magazine, police said.
Moore and Datoria each died from multiple gunshots, Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello said Wednesday.
