Lafayette Charter Foundation has been approved to expand its current school to 12th grade.
The Louisiana State Board of Secondary and Elementary Education (BESE) approved the Lafayette Charter Foundation to expand its charter to include grades 9-12. Once a site is selected, the building is expected to be ready to open in fall 2022, foundation officials say.
“From the moment we opened the doors at
Lafayette Renaissance Charter School six years ago, our board started the process with our management and development partners to provide the students in the north end with a high quality educational option and this is where we are today,” said Mary Louella Riggs, Lafayette Charter Foundation board president. “A brand new school will build and enhance confidence, self-esteem, pride and a desire for education where students are loved and cared for and become true members of a real educational family. We couldn’t be more excited for the children who have been searching for the right high school that fits their needs.”
