Reporter good afternoon, jim, rahel, were told this whole ordeal played out here on 730 this morning, you can tell, just behind me, hours later, investigators are still out here mapping out how this happened and why. Were told investigators are currently interviewing the officer involved along with several witnesses, some of whom were amongst those nearly hit and had to dodge the driver of that black honda this morning. Irradic driver in south philadelphia shot this morning by an offduty cop. Just heard pop, pop, pop. I knew something was going down. Police believe the driver of this black honda was targeting pedestrians, trying to hit them as they walked down broad street. The driver succeeded hitting at least one pedestrian, but thats when police say a concerned citizen blocked the erratic driver with their suv then an offduty officer approached the irradic driver. When the officer approached the car, he gets out of the car begins attacking the officer, this male about 6 foot one, sixtwo, 250. Police say thats when the driver who got out of his honda was shot in the head by that officer. Authorities at this time are not releasing the name of the off duty cop involved in the shooting. At this time only identifying him as a detective with theolict , assigned to the major crimes division. Even though it offduty, it would still be handled by the officer involv unit, same as the officer on duty. And at this time, also, authorities are not identifying the irradic driver , authority only saying that he had a virginia license , and maryland plates, and that he is an extremely Critical Condition right now, as for the pedestrian, who was struck, authorities are saying that pedestrian is in serious condition at this time. In other news four people shot and killed in reading berks county last night. It happened 100 block of third street. This is about a block away from Reading Area Community college. Investigators are expected to release more information later this afternoon. Now a downed pole causes commuter nightmare on the patco speed line. Still impacted at this hour. Eyewitness Eyewitness News reporter anita o live in camden where this all began, anita, good afternoon, what do you know . Good afternoon, rahel, well , patco train hit part of an electrical pole that fell on to the tracks here near the ferry avenue station, at this hour there is still no service between lindenwald and ferry and very limited service between broadway and 16th. Officials stay all happened between 5 30 and 6 00 this morning when train passed over and somehow hit part of an electrical pole. They say 24 people were on board at the time and four of them sustained very minor injuries. According to a spokesman. Im also told while there were some electrical sparks early reports of a fire on board are inaccurate. Now, officials still investigating, act little what happened. But they believe that at some point a conrail train that passes overhead first hit the electrical pole, causing a conduit to fall on to the bottom tracks, where the patco train passes through. Some commuters tell us they had no idea service had stopped until they got to the station. It is kind of unfortunate, really, especially with people who have work scheduled that revolve around this sort of transportation. Didnt give us a reason, just that the trains not running. And theyre going to get a shuttle bus and we have to walk to the station then we can get on the train. Now, patco Officials Say they still dont have an idea of when service is expected to resume, although, they are hopeful that they can do so by the evening rush, meantime, new Jersey Transit is cross honoring patco tickets.
