And then you factor in the winds on top of the cold air, this is what it feels like to exposed skin. We are talking windchill. Feels more like eight below, in philadelphia, three in wilmington, so some improvement there. Actually feeling above zero into new castle county. 3 degrees is what it feels like in reading. Seven below in allentown, 22 degrees below in the poconos, still have windchill warnings in place for carbon, monroe counties up in the poconos, then also windchill advisories for everybody else highlighted in the blue color, and these will last until 10 00 this morning. So, still dealing with the dangerous cold today. Planning the your day, by noon , 14 degrees, still frigid eighteen as we head into the afternoon, bitter sunshine, but, jan, good news they arent dealing with the biting wind, we dealt with yesterday. Good news, chelsey, philadelphia firefighters are mourning the loss of one of their own, as they investigate the row home fire that claimed his life and the life after resident. Eyewitness News Reporter anita oh, is live in the cbs3 news center this morning to bring us to up date. Anita . Good morning, jan, tragic day with both of those lives lost, and while authorities have not identified the civilian killed in the blaze, fire officials did announce the devastating loss of 42 year old firefighter, lieutenant matthew letourneau, fellow first responding saluted fire procession leaving Temple University hospital yesterday morning. Thats where letourneau had been rushed after being pinned under debris due to a partial collapse in the row home. Officials say more than 100 firefighters work to rescue him, and while they it, his head injuries were too severe to survive. Now this firefighter, this fire broke out just before 9 00 yesterday morning on the 2200 block of north colorado street. And colleagues say letourneau had been dedicated firefighter since in spring feel then later here in philadelphia. To say that matt died doing what he loved is hard, but also very proud of matt. He led people. He led the group of firefighters, trying to save someones life. Now, at this hour, funeral arrangements have not been announced. And the cause. Fire is still under investigation. After a deadly shooting at a red light. Investigators say the gunman shot into a car last night, at girard and marion in west philadelphia. A man was pronounced dead at the scene there, a second person in that car was also critically wounded. This bitter blast is not going to last that much longer but for now, philadelphia does remain under a code blue. Sit officials are taking the extra steps they need to take in order to keep all every those without a home safe. Inside fairmount homeless shelter, students from Villanova University are taking the lead to help people stay warm. Theyre also working to open a pet friendly shelter, and that means a lot to those people in need. What you want when you come home, a hot meal, a decent flies lay your head. And thats what she has given us. Now, during the code blue, the city also allowing Homeless People to stay inside emergency housing, throughout the day. When 26 year old Taylor Wilson allegedly pulled the emergency brake on amtrak train traveling between sacramento and click chick, 175 passengers on board last october, when the train abruptly stopped. Amtrak employees restrained wilson for an hour, until the closest sheriff dispute coy arrive. Wilson had handgun, ammunition , mask, knife, scissors, and tape measure. The Philadelphia Water Department says 12inch main broke on 17th street. It has since been shut off. The water there turned into ice, on the highway, that cuts right through center city of the salt trucks have since arrived on the scene, thats the good news, ramps from the schuylkill expressway to the vine street expressway are closed, thats the bad news, well have update from the cbs3 Traffic Center in just a few minute. Good morning, learning more about this firefighter and just how dedicated he was he was 11 year veteran of the philadelphia fire department. But we learned he has spent much longer than that protecting other. So, just a teenager, he started volunteering with the Springfield Fire Company in Delaware County, now the community is mourning his lost and the loss after civilian killed in that blaze. Fellow first responds erring solemnly saluted dollars as they left philadelphia University Hospital saturday honoring one of their own, fallen firefighter lieutenant matt letourneau. We are without words. Just before 9 00 saturday morning, letourneau and dozens every other rush to two alarm row home blaze 2200 block of north colorado street. Fire commissioner adam teal says when part of that home collapsed, debris pinned down the 42 year old. Was never alone. Rescue effort started almost immediately. More than 100 of his fellow firefighters work to get him out. Though they did Officials Say his head injuries were too severe to survive. Our hearts are breaking. Colleagues commends letourneau as dedicated firefighter one who had spent more than 25 years volunteering with the Springfield Fire Company and later served 11 years with philadelphias engine 45. He was also an active instructor at the Delaware CountyEmergency Services training center. He was absolutely a leader, and just super knowledgeable firefighter. Sadly, sadly missed. Investigators say, two cars collided at twp. Line road in lansdowne avenue, just before 1 30 saturday morning. A 46 year old man died here at the scene. The crash also critically injuries the other driver.
