Lets get right over to meteorologist, Katie Fehlinger on the latest on this bitter blast. You said it, now that the storms gone, guys, at least the sun will come out. But doesnt do anything to help warm you up. Jet stream so far south, the cold has just sunk in here, from the depths of the arctic, thats going to keep things incredibly harsh outside. So, heres what is left of the noreaster, still, making its fresh across parts of atlantic canada. Clearly the snow and, you know , any kind of precipitation done for us, and we going to see some sun through the day. Now, just got to talk about the windchill. Weve warnings posted, up towardhe pocono region, if thats where you are waking up this morning, it is incredibly harsh up that way, with windchills as low as the 20s below zero, then advisories everywhere else. These actually last us, through tomorrow, but just today, gives you idea of how it will feel. Throughout the course of the entire day, it could feel no better than 15 below zero in the mountains. That is incredibly harsh. Here in the city, it will probably feel no better than if youre lucky 0 degrees, but more likely youre stuck in subzero, five below, ten below zero territory the entire day. So, even if the sun is up, part of the afternoon, wont feel better than there is usually talking about the values for the Early Morning when it is at the most harsh, the best you get here today. Fifteen the current temperature at this airport, 12 in ac, the winds flow turning more westerly, but still Strong Enough that it is really going to feel harsh. Technically, i expect that we will hit about 17, 18 degrees or so on the thermometer. Thats the best you get in terms of that. But again, you cant really go , meisha, by that thermometer. You have to do the math in your head and knock good 15, 20 degrees off. You Better Believe it, that windchill is nothing to mess around with, and youre right, katie, always go by what it feels like specially for the little ones, especially our animal friends. Looking outside, our morning commute will be not as bad as it was yesterday. But still going to be bad, and the reason why i say that, still dealing with some of the snow, and some of the frozen ice on the road surfaces, even the roads treated, you might have some black ice, especially when you move off off the lines and the shoulder areas. So, this still looking at some of the snow. See kind of sheen on the roadway surface, route 73 a. C. Expressway, and i would say around this area, really where were seeing the bulk of it, now, when we get more toward, say, 95, some of our majors, thats where you can see how treated the road surfaces are, again, though, you just take your eye off the road, just even for a second, go over to the line, go over by the shoulder areas, thats where it gets real slick. A look at 95 at woodhaven, actually starting to see some volume pick up on 95 now. Speed restrictions, still in play from yesterday, ben, walt whitman bridge, betsy ross, come door barry, 25, 30 miles per hour, but thats not it. Also caring over a. C. Expressway, new jersey turnpike, garden state parkway , 495, 35 restrictions, 50, and, a, a and you will have to follow those guidelines, more coming up in a little bit. Jan, coming up. Do expect tough travel conditions on your way to work today. Sidewalks are slippery and snow still covering many streets and roads throughout our area as you can see right here. It is all because they dont want to attack the weakening inch if a structure. Winds could have overhead wire problems, we dont want people stranded in too many vehicles, for we get into issues, so were trying to limit the number of trains that are out on the system. So were right here at a bus stop at the intersection of academy and chalfont. And weve seen actually this 20 bus come pretty frequently, wont be the case for all of the lines. In fact, some of the bustlines actually suspended because of the conditions of the road. You will really want to check, you know, septa website which we have a link to on our website if you do take septa today to head into work. But for now, live from the far northeast, trang do, cbs3, Eyewitness News, jan, rahel, back to you. She makes good point. If the buses arent canceled, they even be delayed or on modified schedule.
