This incident. Reporter well, natasha, we know the Mercer County Homicide Task force is out here investigating this officerinvolved shooting. You can see authorities still out here now and they have been here for hours. Because the Homicide Task force is investigating this, that does not mean the man shot has succumbed to his injury. That unit is assigned to this investigation per attorney general guidelines. Authorities in new jersey investigating an officerinvolved shooting after around 5 15 this evening trenton street crimes unit stopped a group of men along pennington avenue near calhoun. While conducting their investigation with these men, it was discovered that one of them was armed with a handgun in his waist band. When police made that discovery they say the man pulled away from detectives and then started running. Moments later he reached for the gun from his waist band as he turned his body towards the detectives. Two trenton officers discharged their firearms and the man was struck. The man running and shot by police collapsed in the back of a home along pennington avenue. Authorities were able to recover a handgun in a nearby yard and say no officers were injured during this event but that in the chaos of things the other men who police had stopped, they were able to flee the scene. And were told the man shot by police here was transported to Capitol Health Regional Medical center where he is currently being treated for his injuries. Thats where they found the two people. All eastbound lanes on woodhaven road to 95 were closed but have since reopened. Investigators surrounded a silver vehicle on the ramp. A Delaware State Police trooper meantime most recently assigned to troop two in newark has died unexpectedly. Sergeant rodney bond had a fatal heart attack while on a jog. He was just 40 years old. Bond was a 14 year veteran of the Delaware State Police. Haw he was also a member of the state Police Honor Guard unit. Another person is dead another injured. Police say the driver was traveling in the southbound lanes on the boulevard when he lost control and slammed into a tree. A 21yearold female passenger was pronounced dead at that scene. The driver is hospitalized and is currently stable. U. S. Border agents have nabbed a florida teenager considered a person of interest in the death of his own grandmother. Customs Officials Say 15yearold logan mott was caught trying to enter canada from buffalo, new york, around 7 oclock last night. He and his 53yearold grandmother were reported missing from their Neptune Beach home earlier this week. Now, police say a body that matched her description was found yesterday in the backyard of the home. They do suspect foul play at this point. Mott was initially taken into custody on suspicion of auto theft. He was caught driving a car that Police Believe was his grandmothers. Also a u. S. Border patrol agent who died while on duty was laid to rest today. Family and friends gathered for a private Memorial Service in texas for rogelio martinez. Martinez died last sunday while he was working. His death still remains somewhat of a mystery to investigators. They say martinez and a fellow agent were discovered at the bottom of a ravine after they had responded to a sensor triggered call. The other agent suffered injuries and was released from the hospital. Now, the Egyptian Military attacked the hideouts of those they say carried out the deadliest terror attack in countrys history. In other news now hundreds of people took to the streets of paris france today calling on the government to implement stronger measures and allocate more funds to fight against sexual violence. Just hours after president Emmanuel Macron announced a series of measures to tackle the issue activists gathered to denounce the governments lack of political ambition. According to many of the folks rallying there isnt enough money in the budget to enforce any of the new laws. These things are coming to us, reaching our cities and access the new rights provided by the law and unfortunately we do not have additional means to meet this growing expectation. Its been less than two years since france passed innovative legislation to fight prostitution. And a similar scene played out in the streets of rome italy today. Thousands of protesters rallied to condemn violence against women. Back at home a fraternity in philadelphia wants to ensure that kids in our region stay warm this winter. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity held its Fourth Annual cold war for kids coat drive today. This is this morning at Burlington Coat factory in center city. The fraternity raised money so it could provide winter gear for up to a hundred kids in need. The generosity didnt stop there, though, with just one coat. Organizers say kids were also able to choose their new coat, hats and gloves as well. I guess theyll need all that of eventually. Yeah. Winds still out of the southwest ahead of a cold front but well see a wind shift overnight tonight to the northwest and that will usher in some cooler air for our sunday but even with that breeze, wind chill temperature down at 44 degrees. But our High Temperatures today were up there in the 60s in atlantic city, 62 degrees in dover, a 53degree day in mount pocono in late november, yeah, that is mild, 58 degrees the High Temperature in allentown. Temperatures are still pretty mild as far as seasonable temperatures that we would see around this time of evening. 49 degrees in reading, 51 in allentown, still up near 50 degrees in a. C. 44 in wilmington. We do have some cooler air positioned upwind on the backside of this cold front but you can see its not terrifyingly cold, temperatures generally in the 30s and 40s. So we will see a bit of a cooldown bullet its not but its not going to be a big arctic blast as we head into the day tomorrow. In rehoboth people out strolling the boards in the evening. We have some returns now on radar but this is just showing us some sprinkle activity, maybe a couple of flurries working themselves through the poconos right now, carbon and monroe counties, thats really all the precipitation thats going to be generated by this frontal boundary and no precipitation in the forecast tomorrow. Looking good but feeling a bit chilly. Need that hot coffee in the morning, 42 degrees, sunshine as youre out and about later in the day upper 40s but of course those wind chills will feel a little bit cooler likely more like upper 30s as winds will be out of the northwest up around 10 to 20 Miles Per Hour but well see this dip in the jet stream as we head into our sunday but then this big powerful ridge is going to kick all that cold air back up into the arctic and were going to see this ridge overtake the eastern half of the country allowing that more mild air to spill in from the south and west. Its really going to boost our temperatures up especially for tuesday and wednesday, talking about some 60s in store but overnight tonight, look for decreasing clouds, a light breeze, 41 degrees our overnight low. High temperatures dont climb too much tomorrow, mostly sunny breezy and chilly with a High Temperature at 49 degrees. Thats below our average. And after 50s today in mount pocono tomorrow youll only be at 39 degrees. 50 degrees in dover but our seasonable weather will return as we head into monday. Right around average at 51 degrees with plenty of sunshine to kick off the work week after the long Holiday Weekend and tuesday and wednesday, check out those days. The Holiday Season is here and for many its the time of the year that really does inspire generosity for a couple of australian paramedics thats exactly what it did. It meant granting a womans dying wish. A patient nearing the end of her life was being taken to the hospital in queensland where she made a request of the paramedics. She wanted to see the beach one last time so the pair went above and beyond the call of duty making a special detour along the way. Picked a he will rely good spot where she could see the pier and she says absolutely just ecstatic with it all and she said to danielle, you know, shes content now, everything is just as it should be. One of the paramedics even used a medical bag filling it with sea water so that the patient could feel and taste the water during their trip. A photo of one of the paramedics standing here with the woman went viral liked more than 42,000 times on facebook. Well be right back.
