Jeff, thanks for joining us on Eyewitness News. Thanks for having me. You have enjoyed quite the success as a Childrens Book author, tell us about your career. Well, i have had a really weird career. I graduated as a criminal justice major. I tried to be a newspaper cartoon drawer for a few years realized i didnt a talent to draw it out. I started in middle school and that is how i got my career started i i worked on it for eight years. Now i have been published for 10 years. What makes these books such a hit with kid. I mean you see them all over the place every time you see a kid in the corner they are reading your books. Yeah, i have been really lucky to travel around world. I just got back from taiwan, russia, it is really cool to steve that kid are relating to these characters. I think that is what it is, that childhood is a universal condition. So, kid are just sharing in this universal story i think. I think it is so interesting so what is it exactly about gregs character thaw think children all over the world are also connecting witt and we were talking that, just describing as a misfit . I think so. Yes. There are plenty of heroes and in childrens literature, harry potter is one. There are lots of kid who act like grown ups, and that wasnt me as a kid. It is not me now, really. So that is what i like about greg. He is full of flaws. I think when a kid read one of these books they san say you know what, this guy is a little bit worse than i am and that makes him funny so 12th book, the getaway. The getaway. What is it all about. It business an island getaway, family escapes to an island resort, instead of staying home for christmas and dealing with the stress of the holidays, and, of course, disaster strikes overseas. I was flipping through. It looks really funny. I saw something in 2009 that were you named by time as one of the most influential people in the world. That has to be a huge responsibility for you to be tapped into so many young people. Yeah, you know, when that happened i got the call from my agent and she said you got named to this list and i really thought it was a prank. Like i tried to track down the source of the prank because im not even the most influential person in my own house. I got a little pin and everything, you know, every so often when i dont feel important i wear it. Does that change how awe approach the books, the movies , anything like that. Honestly do i feel like i have a big responsibility. I know ifeanyi write a bad book witt ill get to millions of kid around the world. I feel like i have a duty to do my best. I sound like a boy scout right now. I feel like i have a duty to try my hard toes entertain these books. Four movies so far. A fifth, maybe down the road. We will see. I think we will see about that but what were definitely doggies a musical. Oh, okay. We have it coming out in minneapolis at minneapolis childrens theater this last year. All right. Great. It will move on next year and eventually hopefully goat broadway. Thanks very much. Thanks. What a career. So just hang in there as this cold weather isnt quite for you just yet. We have got the cloud around and the kutztown area with the temperature right around 26 degrees, as i mentioned we will see those, cloud, thin ning out as we head in the afternoon hours and see those cloud here on storm scan three across the midatlantic. We are tracking a weak disturbance out to the west, and it will pass through our neighborhood as a weak disturbance as we head in the overnight hours tonight and into tomorrow morning. So let me show you how things play out. Heres those cloud, kind of moving out, thinning on out in the afternoon and then see the overnight hours we will see those cloud moving back in and then the chance for a shower by monday morning, and then areas north of i78, could be cold enough that we will get a brief rain so a mix or a snow shower will not amount to anything really expecting little to no accumulation and then we will dry out as we head into monday afternoon. So heres your forecast, this sunday, in philadelphia, not as cold, 48 degrees, down the shore but were looking at lower 50s, a milder afternoon and then in the poconos we will be in the lower 40s. That is definitely some improvement from what we dealt with yesterday as well. We have a shower possible overnight and overnight low temperatures after around 36 degrees. Were even make something headway as far as our overnight lows are concerned. Youre witness weather seven day forecast, 50 degrees as we head into monday, light morning shower, mixture of sun and cloud on tuesday, we are up to 60 as we head into thursday and then our next chance for more substantial rain arrives as we head into friday night and saturday, jan chelsea, thank you. 6 47. Time to check the road. Lets go to Amanda Mueller in the cbs3 Traffic Center, hi there, amanda. Not too much going on out there on the roadways. Good news for those traveling the majors. This is a live look at i95 at front street and is there relatively low volume here. It is still early. Rest of the majors looking good as well, including the vine, 76, 202, 30, turnpike. However, if you are traveling, through center city, is there on going, and 20th and, road is completely closed including bridges over jfk, your alternate schuylkill avenue 30th street and market street. Finally heading down the shore , and backup you will run into construction on the Atlantic City expressway particularly in the westbound lanes, there is construction between route nine and the garden state parkway, the right lane is block, there, and in the cbs3 Traffic Center im Amanda Mueller now jan, back to you. Thank you. Chelseas back and you have a real treat for us. If you loved nature as we do, i know the Perfect Place to vice witt flowers are in bloom, year round and that is of course long wood gardens but you only have one week left to check out their chrysanthemum festival. You can see 10s of thousands Office Numbers full bloom in variety of forms at the garden. Mum festival is our most horticultural difficult display we put on all year. Most work our gardeners do and take up most time. We plan more than a year in advance and we have plants that start 18 months ahead on time to have them ready for display. Can you tell me about the different shapes and forms of the mums. Sure, so one of the things that we like to say at long wood we grow ordinary plans in extraordinary ways. So we have a variety of chrysanthemum that is you wouldnt buy at a tip nursery. These are cascade mums. They grow very quickly and they will will go down a form. We have pots at top and we grow them down a wire form for 20810 months to get them into this shape, so we can put them on display. Can you tell me more about these, you said, parts of them are kind of pinched off to make the top bloom amazing. Thinks one of my favorite mums this is an exhibition mum as it grows our gardeners take off all of the other budd and leave just the one at the very top and that allows all of the plants energy to go to that one blossom to make it big, full as you can see here. Mums are a fickle plants. We have to go some of these outside so they are susceptible to the heat of the summer. So we have to do manipulating with temperatures and keeping them in cool places to keep them growing the way they need to and it takes hands on work to get them in the forms that we want. A lot of pinching and putting them into form. It is hands on work for our gardeners. And the chrysanthemum festival wraps up on november 19th, just so impressed by those forms and they have a cloud form which is my favorite. Beautiful. They also have that thousand bloom chrysanthemum that huge one just one plant, mace to go see. You can even see the inside part of it, if you go to long wood gardens. Really fascinating.
