More than a year in advance to grow center piece for this special exhibit. Eyewitness News Reporter jan carabao is live at long wood with more on that story, hello there, jan. Rahel and jim, good morning conservatory takes my breath away but this takes the cake, this is star of the show, this is thousand bloom chrysanthemum, and it has close to 1500 blooms on it. Guy who has been growing this for just about 18 months now is jim, he is the culture director and conservatorys director. I kind of got that right. Yes, did you, pretty good. Tell us what is happening behind me and how much goes into growing a chrysanthemum this big. As you said this is culmination of about 18 months worth of work. We started with just a single cutting and it is only one plant. We pinch it, we tie it, we fake it and at the end we have 1444 perfectly placed flowers. Magnificent. It really is, it takes a lot of training, lot of manpower. You have to place each individual flower. Yes, this is absolutely the most intensive horticulture effort we do here at long wood so we have to build frames, inside of their skeletal frames, that allows to it keep all of the stems eventually distributed, we have to keep pinching them to get branch ago this gives it enough to have number of flowers that we want to have on there and final step as you mentioned toys actually place each flower in an exact position. There is a little metal post they are attached to so it opens up as a perfectly uniformed dome. Reporter i want to show folks what it looks like inside because clearly you cannot see through that but they have a half dome here to show you the stems inside of the dome what goes on to training them to go into each space, and that is what goes on. We started doing half dome about three years ago because large one got so bigot is hard to look under it and see single stem. You can see one stem, how all of the stems come out, they are branched and metal framing that allows to us keep those stems, and evenly around it jim, thanks so much. Remember, chrysanthemum festival runs until november 19th and the fountains are still on this weekend but this weekend will be a great time to come out here, check out fountains, check out chrysanthemums they have illuminated lanterns all over as well. We have lehigh river here, jim thorpe and just really pretty colors up along mountainside there. So nice.
