Eyewitness News Reporter, natasha brown, with the latest the terror behind the walls Haunted House at eastern state penetentary scares up crowds of thousands every year. But this year, residents in the fairmount neighborhood have real fears after a string of armed robberies. It was surprising. And very different from what happens in this neighborhood usually. Residents worried, four incident took place just this week, two armed robberies on sunday night, the first at 8 00 p. M. , in the 2200 block of brown street. Another, about an hour later, nearby, on the 2500 block of poplar street. It is concerning. Im out at that hour, and my husband has maybe for awhile. Two other robberies reported after midnight tuesday, the gun wielding suspect targeting victims in the 800 block of 25th and 27th. Has lived in fairmount for years, and she believes the influx of people during halloween leads to up tick in crime. My dad has had his car stolen two times, always when the halloween stuff is on. Youre afraid of going out, so much stuff going on, for nothing, shooting, robberies, stuff like that, weve been lucky around here that hasnt been worse i guess, in some neighborhood hoods. Police have arrested a suspect that is linked to another Armed Robbery here in the fairmount area, at this point, they do believe this one suspect they have in custody, may very well be linked to all of these cases. That crash happened just past the walt whitman bridge, around midnight. The driver was returned to hahnemann hospital. No word on his condition this morning. Coatesville Area Senior High School comes together during time of racial tension. 200 students walked out of class to take a stands against hate after two recent incident involving classmates. Well, Police Believe theyve nabbed the suspect behind a string of armed robberies, in philadelphias fairmount section. Authorities say they caught up to the suspect around 9 00 last night, shortly after he committed an Armed Robbery near beechwood street. Theyre now linking him to four other armed robberies, that happened in that same area, since sunday. Now, all of the robberies happened near the popular haunted attraction sean, terror behind the walls, and some resident believe the had halloween festivities are to blame. It has been happening a lot during the year, especially when the halloween stuff is happening. My dad has had his car stolen twice within two, three years. We kind of feel like it is because of so many people, not many people watching, guarding the neighborhood. Now, Police Sources tell Eyewitness News, that theyre confident theyve caught the suspect. Theyve been looking for the suspect, has not yet been identified. A Chester County High School Community comes together in unity, during a time of racial tension. Student walked out of class friday, to take a stands against hate, after two recent incidents involving other student. More than 200 High School Student sat in the parking lot of coatesville Area Senior High School, wearing black, earlier this week, images of student with racist words, and symbols, kronofed pumpkins, surfaced on line, today was the to stop that behavior. I felt discussed, just for the fact that i few some of the people in the pictures. Administrators and local Police Detectives have identified all of the kids in this picture, but there is not much they can do. The picture was taken off school property, and authorities are not classifying the pumpkin carving as a hate crime. The two principals at the school tell Eyewitness News theyre upset by the image, early this morning, the entire student body joined by teachers, walked out of class as a show of unity. They met in the stadium. I think that the student definitely needed to have a voice. And they needed to feel like they were heard. And the event that they planned this morning, im so very proud of them for that. Student absolutely did a fantastic job today, and unifying as one, you know, the majority of student but later about 200 student continued to demonstration in front of the school. Staying outside for the rest of the day. Student also claim a dark skinned female doll was found hanging by the neck in a lockerroom. Student claim they repeatedly told administrators about the doll. It offended me, because that doll looks like me. That doll looks like a lot of my friends. And theyre not doing nothing about it. Both principals told me theyre discussed by the pumpkin and doll incident. They told me those are both under investigation and student who stayed outside all day today and missed class could be subject to disciplinary action.
