Deputies about why this mission is close to home. And, this is a live look this morning, outside, from our Parkway Central Library camera. There is some fog out there in our area this morning, we will tell you how much longer it will stick around. Today is sunday, october 15th, good morning, everyone, im jan carabeo, let s get right over to the forecast with meteorologist, Matt Peterson. Hi, matt, good sunday morning, nice to see you. Unfortunately, you dont bring me great news in the weather department. Unfortunately not. We had the fog out there. Just saw from the library cam, low hanging cloud cover out there, it will be hanging around unfortunately, looks like, through most of the Morning Hours, probably, not going to be clearing out until we get into the afternoon today. But, we will see some sunshine , it does look like, into the afternoon hours, thats good news for us. Lets talk about the fog right off the bat. Check out visibility, limited for many of us including reading, al earn town, through the Lehigh Valley, mile or maybe 2mile visibility, officially, of course, it is going to be a little bit denser in a few areas, maybe not right at the reporting site, could look for areas that are little more dense with the fog, too. Careful driving around, trenton mile visibility, headed back down toward the shore points, a. C. Airport, lower than a mile visibility there. Across the entire region here this morning, be careful out and about on the roads, after that morning fog clears out, the heat start to crank back up. And we could get up near 80 , especially here in fill, surrounding areas probably staying in the 70s, still well above average, and our humidity will be little on the high side, too, because waiting for colds front to common through southwest winds taking over. Rest of the temperatures across the area, look at the 60s right now from wilmington, dover, from philly, back toward trenton, 64, here, this morning in allentown, and this we are looking at, zero eight for philadelphia and the shore points, 70 up in the poconos, jan, again the colds front seems through tonight, some showers and cooler temperatures break it all down in just a little bit. Okay, we check back in with you, thank you, matt. Shooting in kensington; under investigation, this morning. Police say a 47 year old man was shot in the chest. Counter protesters responded organizing around this entire group to denounce the heritage every White Supremacy. We cannot share much of the audio from this gathering, and counter protest, because much of it is layed when profanity. This interaction between the two groups went on for about a half hour, there were few tense moments, but Philadelphia Police made sure to be a barrier between the White Nationalist group, and counter protesters. Mayor jim kenney late tonight responded to the countering and counter protest in the sit i were in a really bad situation in our country right now. However the First Amendment is the First Amendment. Theyre also adding a message specific to White Nationalist groups. Youre wrong. The message is youre wrong. And being white is not supreme i just think there is no place in our society for that casino every hatred, and that casino every White Supremacy or neonazi. Despite some testy moments at the rally in protest, police say, it ended without incident. In the sat center, cbs 3, Eyewitness News. It is now almost a month after Hurricane Maria and puerto rico is still struggling to recover. This morning, four philadelphia sheriffs deputies headed to the islands to help out. Right now, in puerto rico, electricity, food, and water remain scarce at a Water Treatment plant, just outside every san juan. People are now waiting in very long lines, for their water actions rations and clean bags every ice t seems like these have inspired the deputies to help out. There are people that need our help. And those are our people, those are american citizens that need us. For me it is very heartfelt. I cant even put into words how i feel. I just feel as though i feel obligate today help my people as much as possible. Yes, those four men will be in puerto rico helping with relief efforts therefore three weeks. Officials now confirm two more people have died in the california wild fires, bringing the number of victims to 40. Fire fight remembers gaining grounds against the deadliest wild fires in the states history. As Chris Martinez report, largest fires now nearly 50 contained. From the air you can see the massive scope of the fires burning through California Wine country. On saturday gusty winds helped fan the flames of the fire near the town of sonoma prompting new evacuations. Embers from the blaze caught this house on fire, as firefighters work to put out the flames, a shed nearby melted and collapsed before our eyes. More than 9,000 firefighters are battling more than a dozen large fires across the state. Officials say, overall, they are making great progress. In other news today, the 31st annual aids walkrun philly has officially kicked off. 10,000 people have taken to the streets of philadelphia, with the goal of raising money and awareness in the fight against aids. Eyewitness News Reporter anita oh, joins us liver now from the art museum more, good morning, anita. Reporter good morning, jan already seen a lot of those runners return, but the walk portion of the event does kick off in just about an hour. I want to show you, a time line here, that theyve established, it is very cool, and an educational feature, for example, in 1983, it was warned aids is sexually transmitted, the kind of information you can learn at the event. Joining me kevin burns executive director of action well mess formerly action aids and you have been involved in this case since 1986. I have. Started as a volunteer buddy at action aids, and after few years, then was able to apply for a case manager position, and ive been with the agency ever since. But you have very personal cause. Looking at photo albumns from the early 90s, a lost a lot of these friends youve h what kinds of progress have we made since then . Made amazing progress, when i first started the at action aids, action wellness, aids was a death sentence, really doing hospice care, helping them to die with dignity. Today no reason with someone with hiv disease to have a different Life Expectancy than anyone else, they have access to treatment, and have all of the things they need to stay healthy. So it is the disease has chained, never chronic disease , again, people can have access to good care and treatment. But beyond just fighting for a better treatment, how do we as a Community Fight the stigma . You know, the stigma still one of the Biggest Barriers we face face of people getting tested. And i think we need to step back and realize it is a virus that can affect anyone. You know, it is no different from having any other disease. And it is a chronic illness today. We need to get past the sigma, get people tested, so they know their status and get into treatment quickly and earl. I the money raised by the aids funds, a lot of, that you see the tangible impact that those donations have, can you talk about where this money goes. Sure, absolutely. So all of the money thats raised at the aids walk goes to the aids funds Emergency Needs funds. Thats a funds that all of the aids Service Organizations in the area can access for really concrete things our clients need. Sort of gaps. So things like helping someone who is maybe moving from a shelter in their very first apartment, to get a bed. You know, something as simple as just a bed to sleep in, or refrigerator so they can have Good Nutrition food. So it is really, you know, helping with utility rear age, those types every things, really concrete things that there arent a lot of resources for t so the aids funds really stepped up, filled a gap in services, very grateful. Many of the client use the funds. Very important cause, thank you, kevin. So again, the walk portion of the event will kick off in just about an hour, so we will be here for. That will back to you, jan. And eat, a thank you so much. A manufacturing plant goes up in flames in california. Take a look at these incredible images right now, the reason this fire was specially dangerous, and had firefighters worried. And whether you think about drones, you probably think about military drones, or photography drones, but medical drones are now on the way. And they could change how First Responders treat disaster victims. See why these drones are being called the future of flames and smoke pour from a roof of this onestory build ing in los angeles, more than 100 firefighters had battled this blaze from all sides. They had to work quickly and aggressively, because the flames were threatening nearby buildings, power lines. The fire was out in just about two hours, fortunately, no one was injured. The cause of the fire is now under investigation. Taking a look at the weather here at home, now, you know, matt, id like to say it is going to be a great day today, at least great couple of days this week, just not right now. I know, we wish we could take maybe the first two days of the week and flip flop it with the weekends. Because it was going to be it will be wonderful monday and tuesday. Weekend wasnt terrible. Its been warm. So at least we have that going for us. But, it has been dreary for most of the Morning Hours today. And even yesterday. It was cloudy, it wasnt really the nicest saturday a cents cross the delaware vale, and here, this morning, as you take a look at our neighborhood network, whats going on down in margate, it is cloudy again, not the best day, really, to be out on the beach now. I know not a lot of folks head down to the beach headed to the middle of, but whats going on down at the shore, waves lapping up there, again, dreary, cloudy, and it is a little bit foggy down the shore, as well as here in the philly area, too. Temperatures for us this afternoon, after the fog burns off, we get all the way to 80 degrees, so it will be a warm sunday for us, well above average. Take a look what we usually expect coming to 08 degrees temperature tours here in fill typically see the last day of 80s right around october 7. We are well past that. At this point, specially if we do see the 08 degrees mark, today, now the latest weve ever seen at 80 plus day is november 15th. Now, that was in 1993. So cents it is not totally uncommon we see 80 owes maybe couple every degrees above the 80 mark into the ends of october even beginning of november. They just becomes very, very few and far between, compare it to where we average, for this, today, we should be sitting at 67. So 13 degrees above normal later this afternoon. November, december, we continue to see the temperatures fall, down to the 50s, 40s, see how we pack up as we get to the middle of november, middle of deals, if we continue this casino every trends of ending up little bit above average. Now one of the reasons were still warm today, were in whats called the warm sector, an area, that sits inbetween a warm and cold front, and we have an area of low pressure thats sitting just off to the west. We get this southwesterly flow thats he can actually what he is going on right now, pump in the warm air, little more humid air, as well. With a we will watch, this area every low pressure eventually slides off, little further to the north and east, and what will happen is it will drag the cold front along the delaware valley, and it will bring some showers, more importantly, will bring much more fall like weather to start out our work week, future weather today, see mix of sun and clouds after the fog burns off it, will probably be burning off as we head into about mid to late morning time frame. Now as we get into the overnight hours tonight, few light showers start to develop little bit before midnight. They will be pushing all the way through the region as we go through the nighttime hours tonight. Very scattered broken line every showers, pushing through , some of them could linger into our monday morning , and maybe few raindrops for driver to work tomorrow. If you are down at the shore better chance for that shower activity early in the day, the further east you get, now as we move into the afternoon, though, tomorrow, front completely clears the region, we go with sunshine monday afternoon, and tuesday, looks like, it will be even better. Future rain amounts for the most part today, heaviest down near the shore and back down into southern delaware, where we could look for couple of tents of ann, maybe half inch every rain, and few local spots, philly about. 10 or so head off further to the north get even less and less. Eyewitness news seven day forecast, before the front comes through, it is 08 degrees today, on the back side, tomorrow, 64, even cooler on tuesday, high thereof 63. Then sunshine, jan, and 70s for the middle and end of the week, really looking very fall like and nice for the work week. Sun for days, thank you, matt. Now 8 17. And time to check the roads, lets go over to amanda in the cbs3 traffic center. Hi, amanda. Hi, jan, last hour we told but pretty major accident right here. Scheduled to clear around 4 00. Finally talking live look, at 76 at Spring Garden, not quite as foggy as our earlier look at 95. But still, looking pretty dreary out there. Today is sunday being october 15th, good morning, everyone, im jan carabeo. Lets start you off with a look at the forecast. Meteorologist, Matt Peterson here with eyewitness werth. Gloomy start to the day, matt . Yes, unfortunately, i told you the technical term earlier , jan, it is gross. Thats the technical term for this morning, it is dreary, damp, it is warm, and muggy though, as well. Reminds me of the morning when you wake up, just going my goodness, it is just not going to be a good day. Now, thats not going to be the case, still going to be pretty nice this afternoon, because we will see some sunshine. This fog will be burning off. But before we see that sunshine, again, dealing with the damp and dreary weather temperature, high for the day, 67 degrees, currently standing at 66 officially here in philly, very close to that average High Temperature already, so, going to continue to rise as we go through the afternoon, you see across south jersey mid to high 60s, 62 in reading this morning, allentown comes in at 64, to start out the day. Dew point are very high. We have southwesterly winds, bringing in warm and muggy air , higher humidity, and also seeing again the dew points up into the 60s, so feels very muggy for us, and when you have the calm winds, added in with the higher temperatures, and all of the mugginess, patchy fog develops, thats what we have. You see limited visibility from reading through allentown back toward trenton back down toward a. C. Airport. So be careful out on the area roadways here this morning, we will be topping it out, jan, 08 degrees this afternoon, well above average. Then still tracking the cold front to bring us some showers , cooler temperatures for the start of the week, tell you all about it coming up in just a bit. Matt, thank you. New this morning, overnight shooting in west mt. Airy, leaves a man critically injured ground down, near sharp net streak. Shooting happened just after 1 00 a. M. Today. More fall out involving half wine seed, the board that produces the ross cast has ousted the movie mogel from it membership. The decision happened as another actress, accusing weinstein of sexual misconduct. Fall from a list to out cast includes rebuke from hollywood elite. The 54 member board of the academy of Motion Picture arts and sciences voted saturday to revoke weinstein as lifetime membership. Boards of governors said it overwhelmingly agreed on the oscar ouster, not separate our from someone who doesnt separate, but also to send a message, that the era of will full ignorance and shameful complicity and sexually predatory behavior and workplace harrassment in our industry is over. Academy rarely exercises its power to expel a member. Dozens of women have accused the movie mogel of misconduct including sexual assault. Now, harveys brother and business partner, bob weinstein, is also speaking out. He told the Hollywood Reporter i have a brother thats in defensible and crazy. I want him to get the justice deserves, im mortified, discussed by my brothers actions and i am sick for the victims and i feel for them. That list every accusers now includes actress eva green. She told variety, she pushed weinstein away after he forced himself on her in paris a few years ago. She said the incident left her shocked and discussed. John, cbs news. Switching gears now, the 31st annual aids walk run philly officially is kicked off. 10,000 people have taken to the street of philadelphia with the goal of raising money and awareness in the fight against aids. Eyewitness News Reporter anita oh, joins us live this morning, from the art museum, with more. Anita, good morning. Reporter good morning, jan , well the run portion has already kicked off and already seeing the runners come back. But the walk portion of this event kicks offer in just about half hour. And this is all of course for a great cause, joining me now, the ceo of philadelphia and were fight he is against stigma, what is this do for your organization . What this really does for us it, lets us help people in ways that the bigger programs wont. So, for example, we use funding from the aids walk in the last year to get a refrigerator for a patient needed to store his insulin. People are living with aids, but they also have other problems, and he couldnt get one from, i dont know, call it maybe official sources, and another patient we had, we were able to get her an apartment. But then one of our case managers found out that she and her children were sleeping on piles of clothes. They didnt have a mattress. And this funds is the way we were able to get her a mattress right away. So we have a lot of stories like that, we would not be able to do these things for people nearly as quickly or maybe at all if we didnt have this. So really important to be able to help people. Now you have been involved for very long time. You first started getting involved with this cause in the 80s, them you started with philadelphia fight in 1990. How much progress do you think we made as community, and how much more is left to do. Weve made enormous amount of progress, you know, aids is now a chronic treatable disease. And at this point, there are many regimens, will take one pill, once a day, will not make you sick, and be able to lead normal life and have a normal life span, so thats really enormous progress, we also now can prevent hiv. We know that people take one of the medicines thats prescribed for hiv, and theyre at high risk, that they will not acquire it no matter what they do prep free, you know, giving to hundreds of young people, who may not be ready yet to to do, but otherwise, they can prevent hi v. And we also have known for many years, that if people are drug addict, which is another way to spread needles, they get clean needles, they wont acquire hiv. Weaver treatment and prevention, what we dont have is a cure. But the news on that really good. Hundreds of millions of dollars on research for cure. There are six major scientific groups working on this in the United States, were really proud that were party of one of them. Thank you very much, jane. I appreciate your time. The walk portion of this event will kick energy just about a half hour, we will be therefore that. But for now, live near the art museum, anita oh, cbs3 Eyewitness News. Still to come we check in with face the nation john dickerson, for look ahead at todays broadcast. Stay with face the fashion will be coming your way at 10 30 right here on cbs3, joining us now with a preview live in washington, is cbs News Washington correspondent john dickerson, good morning. Reporter good morning, jan , weaver two big issues, one foreign, one domestic, on the foreign front iran jane nuclear deal, the president is the decertified iran, and whats that really mean . Hes moved it over to congress , and we will see whether the you United States part of the agreement after zero six days, well have this conversation with secretary every state, rex tillerson, and israeli Prime Minister benjamin netanyahu. Who is of course fierce critic of the deal. Also, talk to secretary every state, about north korea. Then, we will continue that conversation with South Carolina republican senator lindsey graham, but also, talk to him about the latest moves by the president on healthcare two moves this week, meant to undermine the Affordable Care act, as a part of the president s articulated strategy of causing it collapse, as a way to force some kind of reform on healthcare. Lindsay gram the author of the last in the congress to pass healthcare bill. Then as always, we will have our reporters around the table , jan, to talk about the news of the week and at the ends, a conversation with astronaut scott kelly. He has few book out about his time, his extended periods of time, up at the us space station, what was it like living up there . Coming back down, and whats next for the us space program. Interesting. Looking forwards to it, thank you, see you at 10 30. Fog nipters of our area right now. Live look at Center City Philadelphia this morning. And, coming up, we will show you just how long that fog is expected to stick around many we will be right its been on the decline with the closing of the refineries and theres no jobs in the community. If theres no jobs, theres no education, theres no food on the table. Whats important is the children. Steve sweeney. He fought for em. This is where hes from. Steve sweeneys been here since the beginning. Steve spearheaded the whole project and really brought it to fruition. It wouldve never been done without steve. It was a pride in building this port and then knowing that were coming back. Checking out werth right now, dis platt start to the day, but the work week sure looks good. Dreary. Another good way of talking this morning, damp, dreary, cloudy, and i think our eyewitness weather watch remembers a sleeping in little bit this morning, and i dont blame them. Because again, this is great sleeping weather. If you dont have to get up. If you want to just relax on this sunday morning, i would definitely give you the two thumbsup. For. That will but if you are up this morning, this is what were dealing with, at least what our eyewitness weather watch remembers talking about in their neck of the woods. 64 degrees this morning. It is a very warm, start to the day, for dawn, out in downingtown, has little bit every drizzle, though, to go along with the 64, maybe little bit of maybe light fog out there, too. Sixtyfive for us, back down into jersey. Davids house in clementon, has just cloud cover, not reporting any precipitation right now, but that six an again, very warm, on this sunday morning levittown, 66, and cloudy and also 64, and we hop a cents cross the river one more time. Ken martin in willingboro, cloudy, 64, what does very to say . No fog, but hoping for sunshine, and i think you will get a little bit of sunshine later this afternoon, it is unfortunately not going to be a ton for us, neighborhood network, down at the shore points this morning, liver down there or maybe just enjoy the beach when no one else is around, you head down when it is not part of the season, this is what you are looking at, in margate, the waves are little bit on the high side. Not too bad. But plenty of cloud cover for us probably little bit every drizzle. We had some actual legitimate rain showers through south new jersey, for the most part, it is looking at dry conditions but again fog out there, light precipitation in the way of drizzle out there, as well. For the most part, set up currently, we see again cloud cover there. Heaviest rain, and really more clouds off to our north and then back down to the west, because, an area of low pressure just north of chicago , had the warmfront, thats extending up into southeastern canada, while our cold front drapes itself back down through the central planes, into the southeast. And with a we are going to be concerned with, is this cold front. The area of low pressure, the center itself, just around chicago, going to track northward, going to push to the east, as it does, it allows the cold front to move east with it, push further to the north, will bring in some cooler air on the back side that far front, but first, we actually get couple every showers going through the nighttime tonight. There is our low through the afternoon hours today. Still well off to the west. So some southwest wind, in the warm sector, and clouds that have high heat, high humidity, build through the day, probably topping out around 80 s through, High Pressure builds in tonight, tuesday, wednesday , what we are watching for is some very fall like weather to take over as we get into this week, because that High Pressure will be in control after the cold front clears this south.
