As we led throughout the day today, what you will notice, especially when the sun comes up, high in the sky, thats going to allow the temperatures to really rise very, very quickly. Many along the coast are stocking up on supplies, and filling sandbags. Forecasters have issued a hurricane warning for new orleans, for flooding still a big concern following hurricane harvey. Back here at home now, Philadelphia Police are checking for clues that will lead them to the gunman who shot a store owner in mantua. Eyewitness News Reporter anita oh, live this morning, at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where that victim is undergoing treatment. Anita, good morning. Reporter good morning, jan weve learned that victim is 48 year old hispanic woman who owns the freddie Grocery Store she in Critical Condition here at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center after police say at least one person shot her in the back and in the neck. Now, as you can see, in this video, authorities rushed there to the 3400 block of fairmount avenue just after 8 30 last night, thats 30 minute before this store is set to close. And a neighbor called 911 after walking into the store, to buy sick rhett, and then seeing that store owner shot in the neck, bleeding, and unable to speak. The motive may be robbery according to lieutenant john walker every southwest detectives. We believe the offender walks in, demands money, and you can see the register was open. And then fires a shot from outside of the register area. It doesnt appear as though they have taken anything. There is obviously one casing inside the business at this point, and a lot of blood. Reporter and police are hoping to get more answers from Surveillance Video inside that store. But so far no arrest haves been made, and no gun has been found. Investigators looking for gunman and motive after a double shooting in trenton. This shooting left a 58 year old woman dead, and 14 Year Old Girl wounded. Eyewitness News Reporter Natasha Brown brings us up to date on the investigation. Reporter several bullet casings littered the scene of a double shooting in trenton, new jersey, it happened at carver lane and north Willow Street just after 3 00 p. M. Oh, firecrackers . And then i said no thats a gun. Reporter Theresa Herman and her husband were sitting in their car when they say they heard the rapid gunfire. They got a glimpse of the 58 year old female being shot. The lady pulled up. She got out of the car. And this other car pulled behind here, they got out and started shooting. Boom, boom, boom many everybody thought it was fire firecrackers. Next thing you know, she fell. The. Reporter the woman who neighbors say lived in the neighborhood for years, died in the hospital. A 14 Year Old Girl was also shot in the torso and arm, shooting happened it broad daylight as children were getting out of school. It was just very shock, she is a very nice lady, been living here for a long while. Ive known her for maybe over ten years because ive been in the area for awhile. And it was just shocking and sad. Police are still trying to piece together what if any relationship the 14 Year Old Girl may have had to the 58 year old victim, thats the very latest here in trenton. This warmfront is helping to draw in more humidity, from the south, with the southerly flow. And also that warmth allowing us to heat up into the mid 80s later on this afternoon. This cold front is going to be stalling just west of the region, as we head into the sundaymonday time frame. Thats going to allow remnants every nate to track into our area, bringing us our next best chance for some real solid rainfall, so keep in mind, october has been very dry so far. It has been dry start to the month. Only seen about a trace of rainfall. And the average monthly rainfall around 3. 18 inches in philadelphia, so i think we will be making up some ground here as we head into the start of the upcoming week. Here is the latest on hurricane nate. It became a category one storm , overnight, with winds up to 80 Miles Per Hour, as of the most receipts end update from the National Hurricane center. It is booking it to the north northwest moving at around 22 Miles Per Hour. Now, nate is expected to make landfall. Somewhere near the mouth of the mississippi river, as we head into tonight, as a category one storm, however it , does make landfall, we will be talking about storm surge, thats about 6 feet maybe in some locations, and then it will be very windy. Maximum sustained winds zero eight to 90 Miles Per Hour, gusts higher than that, extremely heavy rainfall. It will weaken moving over lands, then the remnants of nate up along the Appalachian Mountains up into our neighborhood into your monday. Quiet today on future weather. Reporter good morning, jan , we learned hispanic woman owns the freddie Grocery Store , in Critical Condition currently here at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center at least one person shot her in the neck and in the back. Now take a look at this video. This is the scene from last night around 8 30 when investigators returned there to the 3400 block of fairmount avenue again through this Grocery Store this woman owned about 30 minute before it was set to close. Police say a neighbor called 911 after walking into the store around 8 30 to buy cigarettes. Then saw that store own their bleeding from the neck, unable to talk. The motive may be robbery as investigators found the Cash Register open, according to lou lieutenant john walker every southwest detectives. We think this is someone from the area that goes this there and thinks theyre going to have an easy time of getting some money at the end of the night. But obviously at some point fires that gun, critically wounds this person, changing these peoples lives forever. Reporter and police say this is a well known and well likes family in that community right now investigators are reviewing Surveillance Video to get a better idea of who may have pulled the trigger but so far no arrest haves been made. Anita, thank you, in other news six year old boy with special needs is dropped off at the wrong bus stop and now his mother wants to know how this could happen. Eyewitness News Reporter alicia went looking for answers from the Philadelphia School district, and the bus company. For two hours, Joseph Brown Elementary School student was missing, that student, marcus simms ons, surges years old with special needs consideration barely talk. I imagine how terrified he was. All i kept thinking he really thinks i forgot about him orests wondering who is going to take care of him, where is his mother. Mark us mother sioban simmons, was at his School Bus Stop roosevelt boulevard, when marcus wasnt on the bus, when it arrived at 3 30 in the afternoon. I was sick to my stomach, so worried. He cant even tell people where he belongs. This mother says the bus driver didnt know where marcus was even though he was escorted on the bus by a teacher. And the bus Company Allegedly hung up on her twice, because she was raising her voice demanding answers. He was there no armor. Anybody could do anything to him. This Transportation Company couldnt careless. We went to yellow bird bus depo, the Company Refused an on camera interview, they would only tell us that marcus , quote, slipped through the cracks. School district of philadelphia elaborated saying marcus was allowed to get off two stops ahead of his normal one. The driver was a substitute driver who did not know the six year old had special needs district policy is that the driver should have known this vital information. It is unacceptable for this sort of thing to happen. We have procedures in place. Were making clear to all of our vendors what our procedure is. Were reiterating that to all of our send, a ever, all of our drivers, whether they be substitute drivers, full time drivers, does not matter. The School District says it has met with the bus company to go over those policies, and this incident. As for marcus simmons, how he was found, well, stranger noticed him walking down the street of northeast philadelphia, they noticed that he looked lost and they called 911. Now, marcus mother does not know who that stranger is, but hopes that they see this story and know that she is grateful. In philadelphia, alicia, cbs3 , Eyewitness News. In new jersey, a man facing charges for allegedly throwing a puppy out after thirds floor window. Khloe was rescued from a boards dollars up home on monmouth street in trenton. According to police, her owner , 19 year old anthony mat lock, through the dog out of the window there during domestic dispute. Now the puppy fell through collapsed roof nextdoor and fell through two collapsed floors down to a basement. The cares veterinary hospital in langhorne oversaw her care, the surgeons there pinned the puppys leg back together, mat lock due in court in two weeks on animal crew at this charges Philadelphia Police and lawmakers visited neighbors along the 1500 block of Stanley Street recently to discuss their concerns about violence.
