Well, we are seeing a few more cloud roll in across the city of philadelphia after what has been a generally sunny day. We started the morning with a few cloud, sun broke out but it does seem more steamy over the weekend but that will not be with us for very long. We have a cold front moving through tonight and that is going to change. The lets look at that front on storm scan three slicing through new york state, into central and now eastern pennsylvania and new into portions of virginia as well. Zoom in and you can see this front weakening but there are scattered showers and storms along that boundary and we have a Severe Thunderstorm Warning over portions of lancaster county, and strong storm has popped up. While we dont expect much in the way of Severe Weather or strong storms we cannot rule it out when front is coming through. For tonight most of the activity stays to the north and west, slowly progresses through area during overnight hours and into tomorrow morning down the shore. Scattered Thunder Showers through this evening and tonight. Brief heavy rain possible, gusty wind, ponding on the road cannot be ruled out but good news comes after this front moves through. Back to you. Kate, thank you. Hearing is underway for Pennsylvania Attorney general Kathleen Kane where a judge will deciding whether there is enough evidence to go to trial. Shes accused of leaking secret grand jury, information and then lying bit. Eyewitness News Reporter greg argos is live at the Montgomery County courthouse with the very latest, greg. Reporter this hearing is still going on here in the Montgomery County courthouse. It began around 1 30 this afternoon. As you mentioned the state is making its case against our states top prosecutor, attorney yen Kathleen Kane and judge could deciding whether or not kane could face a jury. Attorney general Kathleen Kane is charged with leaking grand jury material to the press and lying bit under oath. Prosecutors also say that she asked to raise to legally look in the ensuing investigation. Todays hearing started shortly after 1 00 and so far state has called two witnesses to testify. First, davis the special agent in charge of the kanes only boro of special investigation testified that kane had the only copy of the leak grand jury transcript shortly before a newspaper article release aid piece containing that private information. The second person to testify, a detective with the Montgomery County district attorneys office, explains some of the investigation that led to kane being charged with perjury and obstruction of justice. That detective read from testimony given by Kathleen Kane saying that she did not leak any information to the press but which appears to contradict emails sent by kane, to her staff. Throughout the hearing, kanes attorneys have repeatedly objected to the states evidence saying they do not have enough time to thoroughly review it but judge overruled all of those objections. Citing state law that allows state with evidence during these pretrial hearings. Meanwhile, Kathleen Kane, of course, proclaiming her innocence, that maintaining her innocence, all throughout this entire ordeal, saying that she is simply a victim of good old boy system here in state college. Once again, this hearing is still ongoing, right upstairs here in the courtroom as soon as we can guy you more information as to what the judge decide we will provide it to you. The community is mourning the loss of the offduty Philadelphia Police sergeant who was killed over the weekend. As the investigation continues, Authorities Say that it does not appear that alcohol, was a factor in the crash, that killed three twoyear old rafael ali. Police say speed may have been a factor. Ali a single father of two crashed in the tree saturday night on the 6,000 block of henry avenue. Police in bucks county are investigating a crash involving an overturn dump truck, chopper three over the scene on route 113 near cow hill road in perkasie. That dump truck was carrying dirt and spilled on to the roadway when it flipped over. Two people were hurt in that crash. They were flown to temple hospital. Their condition is unknown. A small fuel spill was quickly cleaned up following this crash in Chester County. Two trucks collided around 8 00 a. M. On route 202 near dilworth town road, in west chester. Some fuel, leak from one of those trucks, forcing crews to close all lanes along the northbound side of 202, and it did reopen, around noon, a and no one was hurt. Craig boswell for cbs3 Eyewitness News. Prosecutors say owner of the new jersey home where Rosie Odonnells teenage daughter was found last week sent the girl a nude photo. Ocean county prosecutor say 25 yearold Steven Scherer had inappropriate on Line Communication with 17 yearold Chelsea Odonnell. He was arrested friday at his home, and Chelsea Odonnell was found august 18th hours after her mother posted a statement on line saying that the girl had left her home in new york a week earlier. Chelsea reportedly suffers from mental illness. A judge has overturned terence howards divorce settlement with his second wife. Judge said that howard, who lives in Montgomery County, was coerced in to signing the settlement by her threats to leak details about his personal life. The ruling meets howard and his exwife Michelle Gant will to have renegotiate the financial terms of their divorce. A judge heard emotional victim impact statements during final sentencing phase of the colorado theater shooting trial. Jurors already decide that had james holmes will spend the rest of his life in prison for the murder of 12 people. Testimony from victims and witnesses will help judge determine sentences on the 141 other counts against holmes. The hearing is expected to last three days. Reporter youre looking at the hands of the craftsmen, they have cut, tooled, glued, sanded to perfection, a simple, but grand chair. We can actually say i helped sit a chair that the pope will sit in. So, that is great. Reporter chair is a gift to pope francis crafted by inmates at the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center. Steven brooks is the director of the Prison Industries programs. To work on something of this magnitude is really good for them and their self esteem and good for the the program. Reporter the media was given rare access to see the work in progress and meet the inmates whose hands have shaped these pieces of american walnut. Edgar williams says his excitement is beyond words. I feel like i can cry right now. It gives me a lot of hope. It lets me know that somebody out here cares about me as far as the faith and he is taking his time out to visit the inmates. Reporter seeing the inmates in action, the walls of the prison slipped away for a home. Hakim berk was working on the three teared papal cross. Jim told me he could not read a tape measure when he started learning carpetry in prison and now. Cbs3 healthwatch tonight a surprising twist in the new research on Heart Disease, death rates for younger peoplees specially woman are not falling as fast a as is what being seen with old are people. Health reporter Stephanie Stahl is here to sort this all out. Reporter strange twist, Heart Disease is still number one killer of both men and women in the you had. Responsible for one in four deaths. While things are better for some, this new Research Shows a disturbing new trend. New Research Shows that deaths from Heart Disease have declined dramatically over the last few decade in people over the age of 65. But that is not true for people under 55, especially women. Next step would be try to understand why this younger population is not showing the improvement that the older patients do. Is it because of the traditional risk factors and their increasing obesity and diabetes. Reporter researchers say diabetes and obesity may pose greater Heart Disease risk for younger woman and new study highlights need to rethink strategies that focus on traditional risk factors like high Blood Pressure and cholesterol. Maybe it is time to look outside of those things and look at the stress management, sleep, all kind of quality of life issues. Reporter experts say depression is also a powerful predictor for Heart Disease in young women. And doctors add more Research Need to be done on young people and women with Heart Disease.
