Switching gears here this morning 13 people are out of their homes after a four alarm fire ripped through several homes in trenton. This fire broke out around 10 00 in the 200 block of hills place. Five row homes were involved in this and two people were injured. There was one female taken to the hospital, and her status is unknown at this point. There was one fire fighter taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion and shes being treated now as we speak, and that is all of the informative a the this point. Crews are on the scene investigating what sparked that fire. Police investigating a double shooting overnight in West Philadelphia two men in their 30s were shot in the arm. The suspect is a man in his 20s last seen fleeing from the scene. He was seen running through a breezeway on Cherry Street and police say this is good news. Now fortunately that breezeway, where the shooter was last seen running, does have have several exterior surveillance cameras. So hopefully, those cameras recorded something, that can help with us this double shooting investigation. Police are also interviewing several witness helps were in that area the at the time. There is no word on a motive. A sprint car driver from bucks county, died last night, during a crash at Williams Grove speed way in mechanicsberg. James campbell junior, better known as jim, died in the multi car accident during warm up lapse. Campbell was a feasterville bucks county resident. Race officials believe he may have had a problem with his car. Witnesses explained what they saw happen. We saw a cargo around the track. It started having smoke. It eventually flipped. It involved three other cars, the car eventually became on fire. The speed way canceled the rest of last nights program, tonights racing program has also been canceled. Just incredible video after a small plane crashed nose down in the creek and even more incredible the pilot survived. The experimental plane crashed in the creek on Fish Hatchery road on interstate 78, a quarter mile from the queen city airport. Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority says pilot and thomas siminsky from zionsville. We talk to someone who knows the pilot and said it is likely that plane had some sort of mechanical failure when it crashed. He demonstrated what you might call safety, even though it was an accident, he walk away or basically he is alive and no one else is injured and it doesnt have to be that way. The faa is up investigate to go determine an official cause of the crash, siminski is recovering at the hospital. Reporter Red Cross Emergency Communications center on chestnut sleet is always busy. Volunteers here, answer hundreds of emergency calls every day, and dispatch crew is a cross the country. This job wont stop during the papal visit in september, instead, red cross volunteers will face the added task of aiding the mass that he is follow the popular pope. Philadelphia is expecting more than a Million People and were going to need as many volunteers as we can find. Reporter tom has been a volunteer for close to four decade. Red cross is looking for people with his compassion and willingness to learn. The the Organization Needs 1,000 volunteers to man the shelters, provide Health Services and more. A lot of the work that we do can be taught and we are encouraging people to go on line and register so that we can get some training. Those with specialized skills are the bonus. The multi link what will and these with skills in child and geriatric care are especially needed. Young children and elderly will get disoriented and separated from their families. When people go to bed with you, pun intended here of course, what it is, we want to make people laugh and we want to have some fun because we know the the world is a scary place and there is bad things happening. I will state the obvious, this is a very early sport. Even though 34th annual bay yacht a regatta does not start for another hour and a half, organizers and officials have been out here well were sunrise this year we have the largest number of participants in the event as history closing in on almost 100. As we talk about that we have race director sandy brown. Hello, good morning. Thanks for being with us. Thank you, good morning. Tell us more about the athletes and participants out here in the water in a hour and a half. This event is the oldest, largest, regatta and that regatta means it is for individuals with physical disabilities. We have various people that work have spinal quarter injuries, ms, cerebral palsy, brain injuries, anything like that, and idea behind the the adaptive rowing is it adapts to them. They are doing what they need to do with various different equipment, various levels of ability just competing and out there doing it. Reporter because i was asking you before i saw a couple different kinds, it was modifications to these that will cater to the individual. So this is no matter what kind of disability they have, this boat will cater to them, correct . How is that done. There are three different classes. Arm and shoulders, trunk and arms, there are two different seats. They cannot use their legs. We have one that slide. They are classified in a various event. We have National Classifiers who volunteer to come tout to make sure the individual is rowing within their class and they are put in various positions and Safety Equipment to go down and compete against each other and levels the the playing field, and various disabilities and it is great competition. Reporter i can feel the energy out here this morning. The obviously thinks an event that people really seek out. But you have participants coming from all around the country, california. How does an event like this change a persons life. It is really, seeing the person who is confined to a wheelchair or using crutches or Something Like that getting out the in a boat and going down the river, you cannot tell the disability is left on the dock is what we always say. They are out there. In motto behind the bay yacht a regatta, and when he started this 34 years ago was freedom on the river. When you are out there, no one knows you have a disability. No one can tell you have a disability. Seeing rowers faces and smiles on their face when they get in the boat and we wish them well and they go down the river they are just like everybody else out there. It is an a nation feeling, spirit. I love it. That keeps me coming back every year. Just seeing the countless rowers and, over 20 states represented. It ace macing. California, oregon. Im from florida. You name it, they are coming. If you have driven up or down broad street you cannot miss broken window, graffiti, decaying shell of the building that was once known as a jewel in philadelphias crown. Father major divine broke racial barriers by integrating the hotel in the late 1940s. It was beautiful, it was crowded, there was a lot of people.
