That story is developing in north philadelphia. Where Police Believe that victim is an innocent bystander. Justin finch live for us at Police Headquarters with the latest on that story, justin . Reporter nicole, erika good morning and what a scare for this driver. Shot while behind the wheel she had two friends in the car with her they were not hit but now, they are being questioned by detective as their friends recovers in the hospital. Shes very, very fortunate. Behind the wheel of this mazda sedan by the corner of 17th and diamond Streets Police say a woman felt a sharp pain in her back, about 11 00 last night. That pain was a gunshot wound. She was taken to Temple University hospital. Although she was shot in the back, they say, she was able to move her arms and her legs and she was conscious. So it doesnt appear that there is any paralysis. Two other women were also in the car. One, sitting up front, the other, in a back seat. The bullet passed through the back seat, traveled to the front seat, went through the back of the front seat, striking our 32 year old driver. The rear seat passenger is very lucky because the female was sitting on the passenger side in the rear seat. Had she had been sitting on the driver side, she would have been shot in the back. Philadelphia police dont believe the car was the target. Instead, they believe it was struck once by a stray bullet, as it made a left onto 17th. From susquehanna avenue, thats where the women say they heard gunshots and where police may have uncovered a motive. We found ten spent shell casings on the sidewalk at the intersection of 17th and susquehanna. Also, we found a small bag containing several vials of what appears to be crack cocaine. So the shooting or the shooter may have been involved in some sort of drugrelated altercation. And of course, this case remains under investigation this morning. Police do believe those shots were fired by a semiautomatic gun. They are also now trying to track down Surveillance Video to make out the shooting and perhaps the shooter as well. And at this point that driver is well on her way to a pretty miraculous recovery, police say, so thats pretty good news for us, as well. Both were hit in the arm around 2 30 this morning at front and clearfield. Police tell Eyewitness News the shots reportedly came from a white cadillac that left the scene. Nicole . Erika Philadelphia Police are also looking into the death after recent drexel graduate. The woman was found dead in her third floor apartment on south 50th street in west philadelphia. Police identify the victim as 27 year old jasmine write. They say she was severely beaten possibly strangled. Neighbors say theyre shocked by this, they describe the victim as friendly woman who kept to herself. She was a very nice girl. Would just come and go. And it is sad. It is sad. It is too close to home. Write graduated in june from Drexel School of public health, if you know anything about the case, please, call police. Authorities are still here on scene, including the fbi leading this investigation. It has been a tragic, long, sad day. People in chattanooga came together in prayer late thursday night, after a shooting rampage left four marines dead, and three other people wounded earlier in the day. Federal and local investigators are now looking into the background of the gunman from answers. We are checking every possible place that he could reside or could have resided where he shopped, where he went to school. Using a automatic rifle authority say, 24 year old Muhammad Aziz opened fire at the marines at this military site before he was shot and killed by police. While the kuwait born gunman was not on the governments radar, source tells cbs news his father was under investigation years ago for possible terror ties. That probe did not lead to after owes. At this point authorities arent sure what motivated abdul yousez before driving 7 miles away and killing the marines, but looking into whether he was motivated or influenced by isis. You know isis will last several weeks, been putting out social media across the world, telling people that they will enjoy ten times the reward in the afterlife if they commit an act of jihad martyr for ice us. Authorities plan to analyze the gunmans computer and phone records for clues. Reporter so far authorities have not released the names of any of the victims publicly. And then he said that he was just going to try to fly up. So he started to go up, and we just i just we didnt see anything until we saw trees. The plane crashed into the mountainside and burst into flames. Autumn had some burns and bruises, she started hiking down the cascade mountains. I dont have any experience living outside. And it was so cold. I was positive i was going to die of hypothermia especially the second day. She tried to wave down search helicopters. It was very frustrated. They were flying directly over me. I was waiving my arms hey, whats up, im down here. She reached the end after trail, wait dollars for help by a park car. Chase earl and his friend drove the teen to a country store, 40 minute away. She said she couldnt believe where she was in the car headed back to civilization. She said shes grateful to be alive.
