James holmes is charged with killing 12 people and injuring 70 others when he walk in the colorado theater and opened fire in july 2012. Holmes pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. After nearly three months of testimony, a verdict was reached after just a day and a half of deliberations. The decision will be announced sometime after 6 00 oclock tonight. Laser danger in the skies the faa says pilots of 11 commercial flights over new jersey reported having laser pointed at them last night. Creating potentially dangerous situations. Reporter late this afternoon faa amending their press release to say there were 12 flights including an aircraft coming from the air station, near Atlantic City. It is over ocean city when the helicopter was flying, and this is at least a dozen incidents since last october of aircraft from the coastguard, being targeted by laser pointers. It is impossible to fly an aircraft. It can cause a crash. Reporter coastguard pilot mark bruno says having a lays are pointer in the cockpit is a painful experience. They are lock up for many over the years now. Reporter christie says criminal Justice System is broken and war on drugs and is a failure and we cannot jail our way to justice. Instead of forking out 49 you this dollars to keep one inmate lock up for a year, the cost of having someone go through drug court is around 11,000. A car crashes in the strip mall this morning this happened on the 1700 block of welsh road in the bustleton section of philadelphia. Chopper three over that scene around 10 30 this morning. The car went into a vacant store, police and l and i are investigating the crash site. Thankfully in one was injured. Live wires fall on the truck in drexel hill chopper three over that scene at garrett road and morgan avenue around 11 00 this morning. Fire toppled on to a truck after it hit a pole, but the driver did get out of the vehicle and was okay. The scene is cleared now but it was tricky drive this morning for many of the schuylkill expressway. Trash truck overturn 5 30. We will be hearing from president obama in just a moment. But first, here is the latest at this hour. A gunman opened fire today at two u. S. Military centers in chattanooga. Four marines were killed. Three people including another marine, and a police officer, were wounded. The shootings happened at a recruiting station and a reserve Training Facility a few miles away. The gunman was killed. He is identified this afternoon as Muhammad Youssef abdulazeez. He was born in kuwait. The president spoke a few moments ago at the white house. I just received a briefing from fbi director, my White House Team about the tracing shooting that took place in chattanooga today. We dont know yet all the details. We know that what appears to be a lone gunman carried out these attacks. Weve identified a name. And at this point a full investigation is taking place. The fbi will be in the lead working closely with local Law Enforcement. Weve also been in contact with the department of defense to make sure that all our defense are properly attentive and vigilant as we sort through exactly what happened. And as details of the investigation proceed, well make sure that the fbi as well as local Law Enforcement are providing the public with all the information thats involved. My main message right now is obviously the deepest sympathies of the American People, to the four marines that have been killed, it is a heartbreaking circumstance for these individuals who have served our country with great valor to be killed in this fashion. And, although the families are still in the process of being contacted, i want them to know that i speak for the American People in expressing our deepest condolences and knowing that they have their full they have our full support as they try to overcome the grief thats involved here. I also want to say that there are reports of injuries to chattanooga local Law Enforcement officials. Thankfully, as far as we know at this point they have survived the assault and we want to make sure that they know that were thinking of them. Theyre in our thoughts and prayers. We take all shootings very seriously. Obviously, when you have an attack on a u. S. Military facility, then we have to make sure that we have all the information necessary to make an assessment in terms of how this, in fact, took place and what further precautions we can take in the future. And as we have more information, well let the public know. But in the meantime, id ask all americans to pray for the families who are grief stricken at this point and i want everybody to understand that we will be full and prompt in figuring out exactly what happened.
