Airy. It happened last night around 10 30 in the 500 block of burnham road. The three twoyear old man opened up his front door when a second man approached with a shotgun. He quickly shut that door unable to gain access to the home and four armed suspect ran. He recognized the suspect you are urged to contact the police. Residents in one fill neighborhood turned to Eyewitness News after they say the city ignored their calls, to fix two dangerous holes. Residents say that this hole, opened up about six weeks ago on kind street in kensington. One woman told us that she hurt herself when she fell in it two weeks ago. Another neighbor claims he blew out a tire and scraped his car driving over it. Jake on olden said he took a photo standing in the hole right here and sent it to the city. I figured that would get my point across to the city streets department. We have to fix these holes so nobody else gets hurt. Two blocks away on crystal street another hole has neighbors frustrated as well. City officials tell us they will put barricade around both holes and work to figure out what caused them. Reporter what happens when a private, and at times painful, personal story becomes so very public. Jeff copeland, he was arrested six times before his 38th birthday. He was drinking, using drugs sentence after sentence. Reporter that is the president of the United States and thinks Jeff Copeland, the president told his story to the entire country, during his speech about criminal Justice Reform. At times that story isnt pretty. Drinking and driving, six duis. Reporter at times even questioning his will to live, sitting in the jail cell. Copeland would spend over 30 months in total behind bars, many of them served here at different facilities along state road, in northeast philadelphia. It was here, that he says, he made a decision that his track record of drinking, drugs crime, would stop. When you hit rock bottom is when you stop digging and at that point i wanted to stop digging. Reporter he left prison, quit drinking and enrolled in the Community College of philadelphia. As the president said. Make sure to show up every day. Graduated. Reporter now set to dot same at temple university, set to graduate with the criminal justice undergraduate degree this fall. The president included his story in his speech because he thought it was a good example of what a Second Chance can mean to someone.
