Kuru: History of the Deadly Brain Disease That Emerges as a Result of Cannibalism

The kuru epidemic almost wiped out the Indigenous Fore people of Papua New Guinea in the 1950s and 1960s. There were two-percent deaths every year in the 1950s because of kuru. Ritual cannibalism was responsible for the disease, which spread widely.
