TheuSan Mateo County Sheriffs Office says it is increasing patrols in Half Moon Bay after a woman reported being groped on a popular walking trail this past weekend. The incident happened near Smithfield Park, and Officials Say that woman was walking alone when a man on a bike grabbed her. Ktvu south bay reporter Lamonica Peters has more now from police. Just outside of Smithfield Park in Half Moon Bay. Theres a walking trail that runs along the coast. Generally, we havent had any. I havent had any issues or concerns about my safety, so this is quite a surprise. San mateo county sheriffs bureau chief in Half Moon Bay says a local woman reported being groped while on the trail saturday night, about 7 00 along her walk. She was accosted by an individual on a bike. And he touched her inappropriately. He groped her essentially. She screamed, which was a great reaction because ituscared him off. And he, on hisubike. He left the area. Police report, and now policea want the community to be on alert while using the trails. Because though this is the only incident that we have had reported to us, we it that way. O make sure that everybodys awar , which is a good thing to do any time that youre walking a a woman. Most people we spoke to on monday say they feel safeuwhile spwalking along the trail, but believe everyone should still take precautions. Cal fire says a 12uyear old boy was skimboarding at kelly state beach in San Mateo County yesterday afternoon when he lost control of his board. The boy went out to get the board, but got caught in a rip current. Cal fire says the father then swam out to rescue his son, but also struggled in the current lifeguard luke pallone, was nearby and noticed what wast happening. He swam out father ae then checked out by paramedics and were okay and that rescue getting the governors attention, he said. Thank you lifeguard pallone for bravery. There has been fraud in the recall campaign thats been organized by outside forces of california, even. And thoset that are in Alameda County that are paying for this campaign are not part of the community that is trying to toubuild a sociall movement. Election officials said last week theyll have to manually count each signature after a random sample was insufficient to determine if the recall threshold had been met.
