Democratic side, President Biden nearly swept the state in 2020. He wins that state again easily. So far, 92 to 4. The the secondt delegate haul of the night, immigration, Border Security, a huge issue here and will be in the general election in the republican race for President Trump is leading President Biden both visited the border last week. About 43 in biden, with a major lead. Former President Trump and President Biden are both expected to have very big nights tonight, but neither can clinch enough delegates to become their partysulost to ted cruz in 2p16. No problem for the former president this year. The race called for him by the ap, 82 to 16 so far on the cruises to victory in oklahoma over his long shot competitors. Now, both republicans and democrats watching tonights returns closely, that means that lot of pressure. Oing to face at can she stay in . What does that look like . Because byuthe end of this month, donald trump will have sewn up the republican nomination. You also see a joe biden. What are the uncommitted ballots look like, particularly in a state Like Washington or in minnesota . Hell have the nomination sewn up here pretty quick. Of course, the biggest delegate haul for both parties here in california. Polls close at 8 p. M, and a reminder the counting process can be slow. More than 22 million mail in ballots were sent out. They can be postmarked by today and received within seven days. County Elections Officials have 30 days to verify results. The first sets of results released just after 8 00 tonight. Those will be early mail in ballots, then the subsequent releases will be in person voting. So we could very well see some shifts in the results and some swings, but certainly a lot we are all g tonight, not just at the top of the ballot, but down ballot as well. In regards to the California Senate race, im curious because theres been a lot of chatter aboutuabout low voter turnout and if indeed that is the case, does it affect the outcome of the race, meaning does one candidate benefit people actuale polls . And does someone maybe not benefit . Yeah. So what you see in low turnout typical is that you see voters who vote every year and they t vote every year and conservative. They tend to be whiter. They tend to be older. That certainly benefits the likes of republican steve garvey in this tight senate race. But what weve been saying today is early turnout was low. We could see it be slowunow because we could see to vote on election d. So it will certainly be a question of who comes in the top two. Will it be a dem, on dem or will it be a democrat what adam schiff, leader of this and was likely the anointed one for a long time, will he get what he wants because hes been lifting up steve garvey. He wants him in the race. In november . Because that might be anueasy one for him come okay. When we look at the top of the ticket, uthe president ial races, not a lot of suspenset spright now. We pretty much know its going to probably be president. uformer President Trump versus biden. Whats at stakec for President Biden on a night like this . And how crucial is the state of the Union Address coming up on thursday . Well, the state of the union is certainly the launch of his general election campaign. He will hit a lot of topics. Hell hit ukraine, hell hit israel, hell hit the border. And so these are things that he needs to be aware of and how he crafts campaign, certainly watching hi those exit polls, theyre to se young voters. And is there anything to glean from turnout . Did young people come to vote today if over concerns with israel and gaza . How do they adjust their message carry the coalition into november . Because what we have seen in polls when biden to head is thas leading in swing states, so bidn cannot afford to lose any of his support, people. So he will need to look at what happens tonight. What are the issues that mobilize voters . We know abortion rights are key, especially with campai, convey and see howuthey can say swing state a lot on north carolina. Carolinaustate that donald trump won and that has been red for so long, but now is going to be a battleground state and very well has the chance to be. And before wec let you go, i was going to ask about nikki haley. She said she was vowing to stay onuto hang on until today. Stand because she has has to be competitive. Now, the question is, will she continue to see donors and money . She stayed in this long because people have been supportive of her. The money has been there and she has seen great support independent voters, moderate voters. And she has said that is why she is staying in, because those are people who have supported her anduthat could be, depending on what we see tonight, warning signs for former President Trump. If those voters say if its not haley, november. So both candidates, both potential nominees as we approach november, they have a lot to think about coming out of tonight. n i was just going to say crossing the wire. Ap calling arkansas for all right, greg appreciate it. Thank you greg. Two other big races to watch in tonights primary are the two open bay area congressional seats. No matter if she moves on and the California Senate race. Barbarac lees congressional set is representative lee has endorsed Lateefah Simon to be her predecessor. She has served on has also picked up endorsements from Governor Newsom and attorney general rob bonta, uand the vice mayor of the city of alameda, tony daysog, is also a frontrunner in this race. In silicon valley, voters are deciding on who will replace retiring congresswoman anna eshoo, the three frontrunners in that race former san jose mayor sam liccardo Santa Clara County supervisor joe simitian. The top two candidates move on to thet november general election. California voters also have one statewide ballot proposition on todays ballot, prop one would spallow the state to borrow 6. 4 billion to use to build Mental Health and Substance Abuse treatment facilities. It would also build homeless. The proposition hasuthe support of Governor Newsom, Law Enforcement , as well as many first responders. Opponents, though, do question as its costs in othr local races. Seven state senate seats and 15 stateuassembly seats are on bay area voters ballots, as well as several county supervisor seats. Other big races to watch tonight include seven in san fr, the most contentious of which is proposition e, which would give expanded powers to San Francisco police. It would also reduce the powers of the Citizen Police oversight commission. The other hot button issue in the city is proposition f, which would require adults without dependents on welfare to be screened for illegaludrug use. Despite how bad the roadways actually got, some people say theyve seen a lott worse. Other notable years id say not too high. Ive seen a lot, a lot more snow in a shorter period of time. This was a good snowstorm. Itubrought it brought us a lot of snow. Good for us. As much as 126in of snow came down at sugar bowl and 93in at palisades. Thisupast weekend. Bill, well send it to you. Heck of a snowstorm. I think a some places i think the wind kind of messed up the totals a lot, because the wind was blowing the snow around, but i think ten foot was, was was found on the west slope up by donner summit. But in most like downtown truckee, 4. 5ft, four feet, which is a lot of snow. So its still snowing a little bit up there as you look at the current radar satellite composite, you can kind of see a little bit of green area. Just flurries on the highway on and off. They hadua few problems on 50 today. We had some showers around here and again in the. I just got a nice note from a gentleman up on mount veeder. Just kind of up outside of napa there. So north bay beneficiary of a lot of the shower activity today. And it was thats rain when you get 0. 7in and 24 hours thats rain. These are the forecast highs or the highs from today. The forecast highs tomorrow will be warmer. But these were warmer than yesterday by a few degrees. So weve got a nice pattern going. Tomorrow is going to be a chance for kind of what we had today. So todayuwas kind of like we talked about last night. Its just kind of hit you got to dodge. You gotta keep an umbrella handy. Tomorrow is going to be the same way. I think we see a little more sunshine tomorrow and mid 60s and some of the warmest spots. So there it is, stormy, kind of not stormy looking, but wintry looking sky outside in San Francisco. Itsc going to be a beautiful day. Well, its going to be slight chance for a sprinkle, but i think its going to be a and then as you get into wednesday and thursday, thats when things get or when you get into thursday and friday, things are going to get even nicer as we go into the weekend with a change on saturday, ill have u. And neighbors say they worryuthat the roadway poses a serious safety risk. Ktvu tom vacar has more now on the neighbors demands to the city. This landslide at the corner of tunnel road and bay forest down during torrential rain. Ei. Yet it remains unrepaired and getting wider and deeper into an the road is near complete collapse and that will close the road here. And its really time that the city paid attention to this problem and fix the road s that it remains open for the safety of the residents. What would have been a simpler and far cheaper repair years ago is now a widening and worsening gaping maw underneath the hill is still eroding, the water flowing down here isgh getting under the tarps and still washing away the land underneath the road. The problem withc this is at this size, this is way more manageable than if it gets bigger and with six weeks left of the rainy season, its likely to get a lot bigger if it collapses. The bay forest spneighborhood could be cut off from this heavily traveled road. Access for emergency vehicles is absolutely critical up here. We remain in a high fire hazard zone. Patrick dawkinsl another resident of the area, wrote. We have gotten nowhere contacting the city of oakland. Com surfs up day, where the largest share of delegates are at stake in the republican and democratic president ial primaries. Ktvu political reporter greg leeuhas been following all the results. Hes back with us here inc studio. Greg, is donald trup at this hour starting to separate himself here from nikki haley . C yeah, hes certainly marching in thatudirection. And hes just dominating in the south. But nikki haley trying to keep it competitive in a couple of open primaries. Some big prizes called atuthis hour in texas. The second largest delegate hall, only seconduto california, 161 republican delegates up for grabs. Lets show you the numbers. This race called by the ap for former President Trump,t 38 of the vote in leading 75 to 19. Again, hes just dominating in the south tonightc. On the democratic side, President Biden wins texas issues of Border Security and in that state, espy as we approach the november general election in minnesota. This is one of the seven can choose uncommitted as a protest vote to President Bidens handling of the situation in israel and gaza. Just a few minutes ago, that race called for biden. But you 1 of the vote in, biden hasu76, but uncommitted with on the republican side, nikki haley went to minnesota last week hoping to pullc some suburban voters for trump. She may have, but the race called for trump about 2 of the vote in trump, leading 76 to 22. Now, colorado, the state that led the charge to the Supreme Court to keep trump off the ballot. That was one of trumps court calls that race for him about 46 of theuvote inuleading 61 to 36. On the democratic side, another state where that is an vote in that race called forhe biden, uwith 85 of the vote. So far, those uncommitted votes in overall enthusiasm for President Biden as a candidate certainly things watching as they pivot towards the watching those independent voters and those exit polls as well for what issues voters are looking for. And there was debate going into tonight among even Republican Voters here, whether or not donald trump would be fit for presidency if he was convicted of a crime and based on the numbers that we are seeing put up there, it seems they feel yes, he is fit to be president. And certainly what we have seen from polls that have beent done with certain voters in certain states, its that they want to see the results of some of these trials before they go to the polls in november. Certainly that is in question with the Supreme Court taking up the immunity claim, as well as allowing him to be on the ballot in these states. But that that is another case that voters are going to be deeply interested in. And this also affects this calendar for former President Trump, because hell be flip flopping, going back and forth between the campaign trail and the courtroom moving forwardn and weve been watching nikki haley vowing to stay on. Hang on until today. Is tonight. Her last stand . I can tell you certainly this in political heads will tell you tonight is very important forc her. She has to make some sort of inroad. She maybe has to couple of states if she wants to even mathematically be involved in give her money, certainly she could see herself staying in. But it is going to be a very difficult climb for her. And perhaps with that in mind, she will not be addressing reporters and voters tonight. But we certainly will hear from former President Trump no matter who wins the nomination. It will be a battle all the way into november, for sure. All right, greg, thanks, greg. uwell, polls are open heren california for another 90 minutes. 8 00 tonight, an Election Officials here in the bay area are encouraging people to show up and to vote. KtvuuLamonica Peters, live registrar for us clara county tonight. Lamonica, any issues from officials there . So far . No. Things are evelyn mendez. Shes the Division Manager here at the registrar, and she told me that about 30,000 people have voted already. She says theres been a 20 voter turnoutn theyre expecting a 35 before the end of the night. But she also told me that that was pretty low compared to the last president ial election year. It was at about 45. So i want you to take a listen to some of the voters thatui spoke to here who talked about the issues that matter to them, the safety of the community members, and thatc includes the homeless, but not having accountability for when peopleuare doing illegal things. If you just vote only every four years, theres a lot of voting going on in between. And the laws continue changing based on people showing up to vote for them. So i want to make sure i dont miss out on my rights. I see a lot of homelessness and i was also on the ballot. So that was something kind of important, and then president is kind of important too. So just trying to get on the right side of history. Now, one of the most important races here in the south bay is the race that will replace congresswoman anna eshoo. There are 11 people vying for her spot, and we will attend a couple of those watch parties and tell you what happened there later on tonight. As we often do, were going to take a range mode top, and well give you an idea of how the five day forecast is going to look like, what the five day forecast is going to look like on the back end. So here we are. There is the shower activity right there. There are the chances late tonight. See where it is. And then right there tomorrow morning. And then it looks like a Little Something tomorrow afternoon maybe very similar to what we had today. And then a quick clearing. And nowulook what happens on thursday. Looks money. Friday looks good. And then you see this guy come in here. This is saturday. But it clips to the north. So a chance of a sprinkl again. Cuand then here comes sunday toc the north. And i thik theres a monday system a little more juice on that. But you see how everything just kind of misses us. Its that time of year where things are starting to kind of jet streams weakening a little bit, and systems are kind of withdrawing up to the north a little bit. So thats thats what the model says. Doesnt mean thats going to go down. But its going to look like that at some at some point or at some at some level. These are the highs from today. Highs tomorrow will be warmer still. Bless you jules. Theuhighs tomorrow will be a little bit warmer. Well see some mid 60s today. It was low 60s. Tomorrow will be a little kind of hover n the mid 60s. Here are, here is h a pretty city okay. So the forecast for tomorrow morning and then tomorrow afternoon and then right here around 3 00 tomorrow. You get a little bit of moisture. The main systems going south. But you see that. So thats why theres a chance of sprinkles in the forecast so tomorrow is gonna be a lot like today i guess to some extent a little warmer. I think well see a little more sunshine overnight lows stay warm. Showers still to the like i saip in mount veeder, i got a report from a nice gentleman who said, we got over, over 0. 7 tenths of an inch of rain. Its a lot of rain. Most of us were in just a Sonoma County did well, anty and quarter of model does this. Again. Theres that system going down the coast thats tomorrow at 7 a. M. And then you see the chance for a shower tomorrow at five. And then its all out of here thursday. Its of here on friday. And then that system on saturday kind of swings in. So itsc more of the same essentially really no big, no big temperature differences, no big shower differences. Chance of showers tuesday. Chance of showers wednesday. Chance of showers. They are r5 and eight this year, led by longtime head coach orlando watkins, one of the best in the business. But so far this not beaten oakland tech. Oh,uand three coming into this one, which, by the way, is exactly the same scenario as last year. The bulldogs beat the wildcats all three times they played last year until ogi won the Fourth Meeting in this very game for the Northern California spchampionship. However, one big difference. Last game is here at oakland tech, where the bulldogs have not lostuthis year. 31 and zero in this gym. And they finished with a record of 28 and five. Good enough for the bulldogs to earn the number two seed and for oakland high coach orlando watkins. We asked him what it would mean to go back to back and repeat as champions, as hasnt been done in a long time. On the boys side. But i told my kids lifes about taking advantage of opportunities and the opportunity presents itself. Tonight, they take advantage of it. We came up short last year and weve been pretty much focused on getting back here and getting beyond on this point, to finish the job for, for our seniors and for everybody in the program. Okay. This was the scene last year at Laney College when oakland celebrated their big win over tech. A few days later, the wildcats beat buena from Southern California to capture its first ever Boys Basketball title. So, joe, lots of steak here at this gym tonight. One thing we do know about this game , there will be an oakland representative and oakland a champion, a Northern California champion from oakland from one of these Public Schools, oakland or oakland tech playing for the state championship on saturday. All right. Thank you jason. Well have highlights of that tonight at ten. And you can bet that will be an exciting one out there tonight. Rhys hoskins with a solo blast in the third to give them a five nothing lead. Webb allowed five runs on seven hits in three and a third innings, but this was one of those games that saw the two teams combined to use 14 pitchers. Wade meckler, with a two run single for the giants in the third. They got four in that inning. Meckler had three johnd out 19 hits in all, winning 13 spto 8, andc it is check this ot time on a tuesday night. We all know Kylian Mbappe is pretty good. How about this effort in the Champions League round of 16 . This is one of two goals in mbappe had, as Paris Saint Germain was a 2 to 1 winner over real sociedad and mbappe shot came with such it broke the nete from one of the brackets that holds it in place. Paris Saint Germain moves on to the quarterfinals talking about some serious footwork there. Yes we are, as someone from oakland is moving on to the state title.
