New numbers bear out with car owners in oakland have been saying for a while now that their vehicles have become too easy a target. So to catch a criminal, they need a little bit of luck to be in the right place at the right time. Mercury news reports the woman had been driving with her ten year old daughter on interstate 880 at hegenberger road when another vehicle cut her off the paper says she honked at the car and exited the freeway. The other car followed her. The traffic dispute somehow ended in gunfire. The girl was not hurt. The woman is expected to recover. Police say there have been no arrests. Time now is 705. Authorities say overnight they followed more than 500 tips as they try to track down robert cod, a shelter in place remains in effect for parts of the state as there are searches in the air, on the ground and now in the water. I want to get into some of those numbers. So take a look at this. That study comes from the California Public Utilities Commission. They say that between january of 2021 and 2023, the average bill went up 52. The quarterly rate went up 38. Rates have risen. Get this 92 in the last nine, nine years as we are very concerned about the general trend of the direction that rates are going and how much faster theyre increasing beyond inflation. We talks about those increases. All of this as pga asking to hike those rates even higher. So why such a steep increase . Well according to the report, wildfire mitigation, transmission and distribution investments and the rooftop Solar Incentives are all three primary reasons for those price increases. She says her bills going up, but her salary is not necessarily matching that increase. All of this as pga is asking to hike rates even higher. So why is such a steep increase . Hany farid is a uc berkeley professor of Computer Science who researches fake content. This is categorically different than what we saw in terms of mis and disinformation and generative ai two years ago. And that shows you how fast the technology is developing. Graphic and emotionally charged images and assertions have gone viral on social media news Fact Checkers have been working to research and debunk fake posts. But experts say the speed of sharing, retweeting and repose posting content makes correcting fake content extremely difficult. And i think this is really the most nefarious part problem we are facing in the age of generative ai is people suddenly dont know what to trust. One of those posts, such as early claims that hamas beheaded 40 babies, has been found by news Fact Checkers to be a misrepresent version of one journalists statements. They want engagement, as they say, and inflammata free rhetoric gets engaged infant. So the other problem is that there are Business Models that are built on kind of dangerous speech. Fareed says new technology could be employed scented with devices that can authentic date the date and location of images and audio.
