Service. Friends, family and colleagues all gathered today in San Francisco at city hall to honor the life of senator Dianne Feinstein, who died last week at the age of 90. Welcome, everyone, to the four this afternoon. Im alex savage. And im heather holmes. This was San Francisco chance to honor the late senator with a grand Memorial Service there at city hall. Ktvu is christian captain was there today for the service in christian. A lot of those in attendance reflect feinsteins remarkable political career. Thats absolutely right, alex. Heather, the late senators farewell took place right here on the front steps of city hall. A full circle moment celebrating her life where her political career began. The Memorial Service for the late senator drew visitors from near and far, including Senate Majority leader chuck schumer, who is among those coming to california to celebrate the life of Dianne Feinstein. If i had to pick a one word that i would associate with her, and there a be integrity. She had that internal gyroscope, what she felt was right and what she felt was wrong and that jairus hope propelled her to do many great things. A political allies from the past also coming to pay their respects. Retired senator Barbara Boxer are among those who was in attendance. She said while she and senator feinstein didnt always see eye to eye on every issue, there was a shared bond of doing the very best they could for the people of california, the members of californias current delegation also made their way from washington, dc, saying the late senators legacy will be the legacy station she passed. Feinstein started her political career inside city hall, first as a supervisor and finally as mayor from 1978 to 1988. Current San Francisco Office Holders say they remember a National Figure who still wanted to know exactly what was happening in her hometown. And i did have the opportunity to meet with the senator last december. And one of the things she asked me was what were some of the key issues here that that i needed her assistance with . And so we sat for a while and talked about the fentanyl crisis on our streets. And she offered her support, her offices support to do not only anything to help San Francisco, but nationwide. And as you see there, a tribute there. The blue angels in town for fleet week flying overhead in a missing woman formation honoring the late senator Dianne Feinstein. It really was such a nice tribute to her today. Our christian captain live outside San Francisco city hall this afternoon. Thank you, christian. And of course, the late senator feinstein had very deep roots in San Francisco, and that was certainly on display today. Yeah it certainly was. Its important to point out that she chose not to lie in state in washington, dc, but at San Francisco, at city hall there, as so many people were able to pay their respects to her yesterday. Yeah, there was a lineup of some of the nations most powerful leaders who were on hand today for that funeral service, taking the time to pay tribute to the late senator. Our political reporter greg lee, joining us now live with more on some of the political figures who were on hand and gathered outside of city hall today to share their memories of senator feinstein. Alex, heather, good afternoon. A truly remarkable show of support and reverence from our nations elected leaders, not just on stage but in the crowd. More than 30 members of congress here to pay respects to the late senator today and the indelible mark she left on their lives. A political giant, a force, a trailblazer. She was always tough, prepared, rigorous, compassionate, a loving mother, grandmother and friend. I dont know. Row. O sa. Minutes after i was born at the hospital, she exclaimed to my mom and dad. Oh wow. She looks just like me. You you should change her name to dianne and a proud daughter of San Francisco to read in honorees also just w. She was the leader of our band and i know i speak for all san franciscans when i say she will truly be missed. Hundreds of elected officials, friends and family gathered at San Francisco city hall to honor the life career and legacy of the late senator Dianne Feinstein. President biden recorded an audio message celebrating the many glass ceilings. The 90 year old shattered, often the only woman in the room she she also mentored generations of women and men alike to imagine a bigger, more hopeful future for themselves, for the country and for the world. On this day of remembrance, we reflect on the many ways that such a pioneer made history. Dianne the women of america have come a long way. Our country has come a long way. And you helped move the ball forward and our nation salutes you. Her colleagues in congress reflected on her drive, passion and focus during her 30 years in the senate. One quality above all, stands out in my mind and will forever, ever set dianne apart. Integrity integrity. Dianne feinstein was a leader of uncommon integrity. Dianne had the courage to take on the many tough fights, even when she was faced with fierce opposition and political peril beyond a lifetime spent serving San Francisco, california and the country. The speakers shared personal stories of the friend and mentor she was to so many. I loved cultivating people and flowers as she cultivated relationships, bringing people together officially, personally and romantically. You know that dianne was a matchmaker. Dianne feinstein had many titles in her life, including senator mayor and supervisor, but one outweighed them all for Eileen Mariano grandmother to my grandmother, i promise to always is work to my long suit to earn my spurs, to keep going, no matter what, and to never forget my black pantsuit. Your family loves you. We are so proud of you. We miss you and you will always, always be my sunshine San Francisco woke to be home again and coming home to running hummus love. As you saw, each speaker had a unique memory of the late senator, but the Common Thread throughout is that she paved the way for women. She showed women that they can lead and that they deserve a seat at the table. Reporting live in San Francisco, greg lee, ktvu fox two news. Indeed she did. Greg, thank you. And for more on senator feinsteins career and accomplishments as mayor and also on capitol hill, were joined once again this afternoon by stephen wolpert, a professor of politics at saint marys college. Professor, always a pleasure to see you. And there are a number of Critical Issues in which feinstein was a pivotal ally, including being an early leader on hiv aids. Yes, she hadnt been mayor more than a couple of years when suddenly another crisis hit San Francisco. The aids crisis particularly hard on the Gay Community here. And because i think her father was a doctor, it helped her see this. She framed it as a Public Health issue and she wanted to respond in a humanitarian way. And because many of the National Leaders wanted to stay as far away from this issue as they possibly could, she emerged as really in the forefront of the response to the aids crisis and San Francisco, i think, has always been ever since. Its one of the places where aids, treatment and care has been strongest. And obviously, we know the story. She was she was thrust into the position of being mayor of San Francisco because of the tragedy, the assassinations of mayor moscone and supervisor harvey milk. Beyond that, she also led the city of San Francisco through through a lot of really difficult times in that era, including the jonestown massacre, which which, of course, sent shockwaves through the city of San Francisco. What was it about her her ability to lead that that allowed her to get the city through crisis after crisis . Well, i think she had a moral core that she could rely on. And she was very practical. So she was trying to find a pragmatic response. But you could see when she came out to announce that harvey milk had been shot, she was in shock. But she was composed. She was able to speak the grief that everyone was feeling in a way that somehow was reassure. Bring now jonestown was almost a thousand people following this cult leader and then following his orders to commit suicide. So it was so extraordinary. Its like, how could this be happening in the social fabric was really being weakened at that time with was not that long after kennedy was and Robert Kennedy was assassinated. And Martin Luther king, we had lovins in golden gate park. We had antiwar protests. We had a shootout in san quentin. And then this and then the Symbionese Liberation Army kidnaped patty hearst. It was like one weird story after another. And she somehow had the inner strength to be a presence of calm and reassure inference, kind of that steadying force. Yeah. She also had a true passion for the california desert. I read that she was responsible for the preservation of more public lands than any other senator. Absolutely and it was not an easy task because so many stakeholders wanted to get in on this action and it took a long time and i think the key to her success was not only did she have the best arguments for what she wanted, she understood the best arguments on the other side. And so she wasnt dealing with hyperbole or soundbites or anything like that. She she knew what the stakes were for everybody. And she could engage with them on that. And she was tenacious. She just kept at it and as a result, i think was Something Like 800,000 acres of wonderful desert preserved, but also open to the public for people who like to go off trail and that sort of thing. But there were so many interests competing to have their way that it took enormous effort and wisdom on her part. Yeah, certainly a Lasting Legacy for her. We talk, professor, a lot, obviously, about senator feinstein making history sort of at every turn in her career. The first woman to become the mayor of San Francisco, one of the first women senators from from here in california. Do we have a sense about how she felt about being one of the few women involved in politics at that time . Did she how did she feel about being seen as a trailblazer . I dont think it mattered to her that much. Obviously she was in an old boys network. A lot, so she had to put up with a lot of stuff. But her focus was on getting work done, and so it was kind of like, dont bother me with this. Im here to achieve results. And she did. So if she felt she needed to change her mind, which she did, she was prodeath penalty at one point. And then she came out against it and when she was voted for iraq and afghanistan and then she regretted it afterwards. So it wasnt like she wouldnt learn, but she wasnt going to deal with hyperbole or anything like that. She was going to focus on lets get this job done and i understand what youre saying. Do you understand what im saying . So thats what leadership looks like. Yeah. And just a remarkable work ethic when you think about the fact that she was still casting votes the night before she passed. We really appreciate you coming on the show and providing this perspective. Thank you, professor. We all miss her. Its really its sad. Its a big, big, big shoes to fill. Yeah. Thank you. Well, this years fleet week is in honor of senator feinstein. Were going to talk live with the us navy about the events that are planned for the rest of the week and also tell you more about that special tribute that is planned for the late senator plus, earth experienced record setting warming last month. Coming up here on the four today, meteorologist mark tamayo will be here to help us understand the latest data on global warming. And we have big time warming today here in the bay area, widespread 90s out there. The heat advisory continues and another hot forecast for your friday. I just wrote a slogan for my new chicken parm sauced loaded sandos. Imagine a chicken parm, but better two chicken strips on a brioche bun. Topped with curly fries, pepperoni, white cheese sauce, marinara, and mozzarella. Yeah, im a marketing genius. Try them today. Record for how far above normal they were. September average temperature was 1. 7f above the historical average for the month. That was the warmest margin above average for any month in the 83 years of records kept by the European Space agencys copernicus. Climate change service. Okay. Meteorologist mark tamayo is here now with more on the significance of these figures. And i want you to put this record in perspective for us, if you can. Mark and also whats driving these really warm temperatures that we saw in september . Well, a lot theyre attributing to the warming oceans as well with with that pattern setting up. So, yeah, the earths surface, about 71 covered by water and so obviously that that would impact the overall global temperature in the month of september. Yeah. Yeah. Obviously we talk about the el nino effect that is at play right now. How much of this warming that were seeing here with these figures were talking about for last month, its september. How much of that do you attribute to the warming waters of the oceans from el nino . And how much of that is Climate Change . Yeah, well, a lot of it. I guess the overall footprint is Climate Change, but it seems like el nino is inflating that. So right. Weve been hearing about el nino for the past few months, right . A developing el nino is strengthening el nino. That is water near the equatorial pacific. Thats one area where they track the el nino region. That area has been warming. And theres a possibility based on the warming, we could have a strong el nino coming up in the upcoming winter. And just to touch on heathers question initially about to put it into perspective, im not a climate scientist. I studied meteorology. Not not not climate in college, but from my understanding, long term averages or or changes. Youre thinking maybe about maybe 0. 1 or 0. 2 or just minuscule changes and that would a tiny change like that would grab a lot of attention. But these scientists, the quotes, theyre talking about, theyre saying its a death sentence for people and ecosystems. In that same article, gobsmackingly bananas is what scientists is saying. So its going way up above the minuscule changes that would initially trigger attention. But to have that much of a leap in temperature is alarming. Yeah, they were saying that, you know, this margin is significant in climate records. As you were just saying. So the Deputy Director of the European Climate Agency says the earth is on track for its hottest year on record about 2. 5f warmer than preindustrial times. World leaders have set the goal of trying to limit future warming to 2. 7f. That seems difficult to do, especially when youre looking at what we just saw in september. Yeah, and also over the past year, right. We were talking about a story like this, maybe back over the summer with with the hottest month on record, Something Like that. So it seems like its a Freight Train going in one direction with with with these warming temperatures. And it seems like unfortunately we were kind of on track to deal with that reality. Yeah lets talk about that reality and the implications for us here in california, because Climate Change is one of the factors that is driving a new really kind of ambitious plan for Water Conservation here in california starting in 2025 through 2035. The state is aiming to save about 413,000 acre feet a year of water, enough for about 1. 2 million households is how is Climate Change affecting californias water supply . Broadly speaking . Yeah, it seems like weve weve all been talking about it, but experiencing all these extremes , right . Remember last year we were talking about drought stories and then we had the excess rain in San Francisco and the bay area last year. So it might sound crazy after last winter to be thinking, okay, we have to conserve water. But that is the reality. To be a water manager, this right now must be incredibly difficult because you have to be prepared for drought, but also be prepared for too much rainfall or having to release that water and to be honest, theres no real good forecast to make to make a decision. You just kind of have to use strategy computer modeling, but you never really know. Make your best guess. Yeah. And those extremes that youve got to balance. Yeah yeah. And were talking about, you know, the water supply, but also fire danger and just the heat, even the backdrop of the heat today, were still here in the bay area today. Its heating up and affecting us in so many ways. It is, in fact, we want to head outside right now and take a look at things across the oakland estuary and mark a really nice day. Obviously, im in the city and it was hot today. Hot yeah. Typically were saying, okay, 70s, 80s and 90s. Everybody today 99 of the bay area in the 90s even San Francisco lower 90s with the heat advisory continues for today as you can see these numbers morgan hill healdsburg san mateo 94 degrees and walnut creek 93. Saratoga 91. Look at Half Moon Bay 91 degrees out toward the coast. So even heating up out toward the shoreline. So this is the headline october heat. Temperatures tomorrow in some areas could actually be a little bit warmer around 96 to maybe 98 degrees. So we are well up above the average dry conditions means no red flag fire warnings. But still an increase in the fire danger with this pattern setting up heat advisory continues into your friday for all the areas in yellow. San francisco, oakland, hayward, san jose, morgan hill and gilroy mid to upper 90s for tomorrow. Take a look at the current numbers for the 4 00 hour right now it is 91 degrees. One site in San Francisco showing 91 not concord 92. In san jose, 94 degrees. So this is a widespread heat event across the entire bay area, not just for the inland areas, but all the way out toward the Golden Gate Bridge. You can see lots of clear skies, no fog to speak of. And that should be the case for tomorrow. Its basically a one word forecast. Well, hot for your friday, as you can see with temperatures in the 90s for San Francisco, oakland, the coast could be in the mid to upper 80s and upper 90s out toward antioch and fairfield. Now another hot day in the saturday we begin to cool things off though into the weekend and then get ready. Were talking about a major cooling trend into next week and that could include maybe some shower chances. Well have more on that with your full update in a little bit. Okay. Soaring over San Francisco this week. Fleet week is in full swing right now as we get ready for the big air shows that get underway tomorrow. And go through the weekend. For more on what we can expect during the fleet week festivities, we are joined this afternoon live by brian orourke, a spokesperson for the us navy. Brian, thank you for taking the time. You know, obviously people want to catch the blue angels here. If theyre visiting San Francisco or visiting the bay area this week or or they live here. So what where when can people catch the blue angels and what are the best spots to check out the show . As you can hear, they they are flying right now. Theyll be flying all weekend. The air show for first day of the air show is tomorrow. The air show is from from. 1 to 4 on saturday and sunday. The air show is from 12 to 4. Blue angels will be the last act on each of those three days. Theyll fly from 3 to 4, from 3 to 4 00. Um, canvas have come on down to marina green. Great place to see the blues fly or the entire air show aquatic park anywhere along the embarcadero. Great, great viewing point for that. Um, along with the air show we have so many things going on. We have two navy ships here in port. We have two coast guard cutters in port. Those four ships will be open for tours throughout the weekend from 10 00 to four every day, saturday, sunday and monday. Want to reiterate that there will be no tours on the ships on friday because our ships will get back under out. To sea tomorrow and then they will get information and come back under the Golden Gate Bridge for the parade of ships at 11 00 tomorrow. So beautiful sight. One of the one of the things were most proud of every year during fleet week is that parade. Yeah, i have witnessed a parade of ships on many occasions right there by the Golden Gate Bridge. It really is Something Special to watch. And the weather should be fantastic for it. Let me ask you, if i could, about the really moving tribute today by the blue angels at the funeral that was held in San Francisco for the late senator Dianne Feinstein. Lets take a look at what they did. And as we mentioned at the top, this is the blue angels performing the missing woman formation here. Can you explain what what the pilots are doing here . What is the significance of the formation and why was it important to pay tribute to the late senator feinstein . Well, certainly the missing woman formation is a military tradition. When we have lost somebody in service or somebody that is very important to the armed services. And it shows our respect. One of the jets will fall out of that formation in representing the person that weve lost. Weve last week lost , sadly, senator feinstein, senator feinstein is very important to fleet week as mayor of San Francisco. Mayor feinstein introduced fleet week to San Francisco in 1981 and its been going strong ever since. Incredible events. The navy, the marine corps, the coast guard, we all appreciate what the city of San Francisco has been doing for us to celebrate these men and women of the Uniformed Services since 1981. And before long before 1981, San Franciscos always be for sailors and marines for generations. Is one of our Favorite Places to have a port visit fleet week represents the best of those port visits because there are so many things going on for the sailors and marines to do. And it also gives us an opportunity to show what it is we do. What, you know, what do our sailors and marines do every day for a living . And, you know, what are our assets capable of doing . Like come down to marina green and see all of the military assets that are down there that have been working with our with the city agencies here in San Francisco. So as we train every year to understand how the military might fit in to a response effort in in after a large catastrophe or a large earthquake or theres a lot of important, important work thats going on here. Its about the air show and the parade of ships. But theres important work thats happening in important coordination. Brian orourke with the us navy, we have to leave the conversation. There have a great time this weekend. We appreciate it. Thank you very much. Well all right. Well, throughout october, our weve been bringing you experiences of Breast Cancer survivors. I hope that its encouraged story and inspiring story for people who feel like theyre going through any kind of hard time and that theyre not alone. Its a great event, a fun and fashionable one thats held during Breast Cancer awareness month. The luncheon benefits sutter health, Cancer Support and institute for health and Healing Services there in sonoma county. And among those joining us, a mother and son who battled cancer at the same time, shauna and alec majerus of petaluma. And they shared with me their unimaginable struggle and the gratitude that they feel now having overcome it. Family photos capture joy and happiness. The pictures in the majerus family album also show sadness and pain caused by cancer. For our whole family, it was like a train wreck. Shauna majerus son, alec, had been diagnosed with leukemia. He was just eight at the time and needed aggressive treatment. But the chemo in his spine and then wait for recovery and for him to wake up and then after he has time to do that, then he gets wheeled across the street to the infusion clinic where he gets regular kind of normal chemo. And then we would go home. So from petaluma, that was every nine days, you know, for the first year. Young alec was worried and scared was going to ask, am i going to die . And in the midst of her sons cancer battle, shauna received the devastating news that she had Breast Cancer. I was afraid for my family, afraid for my kids. I was shocked. The mother and son fought together, working to stay alive and now theyre both healthy and sharing their story with others. At the annual catwalk for a cure fundraiser. Adding new pictures to the family album that show the hope and perseverance that shauna and alec possess. What is life like now . Alec, how much fun are you having been a 12 year old . Im glad that im finally in a school where i like to ride my bike. I like to build legos. I like playing card games and board games. How thankful are you to be here and to see this through . We often chuckle when we hear people say, im happy to be here. You know, its a connection that we have together. Having been through something so difficult together that we are really, truly happy to be here. Amazing thing. We are here now with dr. Zaid kanan, medical director of oncology at sutter santa rosa. Thank you so much, doctor, for being here. I mean, shauna and alecs story, its both heart breaking and heartwarming because they both beat their their respective cancers. But how unusual is it to have multiple cancer diagnose cases in the same family . Its actually not that unusual. A lot of people think of the cancer genetics and hereditary predispositions, but recent studies really showed us that probably less than 10 of cases are actually hereditary. The unmasked of cancer, the better screening, the increased awareness, the better diagnostic approaches just increase the incidences of cancer. And this is just not a hereditary predisposition here. When i was talking with shauna, though, it really it really what happened to her, she thought she was active and healthy and then she gets this Breast Cancer diagnosis. I mean, that really should be a message for all women out there. Its really important. And really thank you, shauna, for being a champion here. Its really important to know that youre fit, youre healthy, youre staying on top of your health and cholesterol and Blood Pressure so that when this happens, you have the best treatments available to you. It also is really important as a message to send to women to get their mammography done, even if theyre feeling good. So the common questions were asked are, you know, i eat right, i exercise regularly. I feel good. This doesnt run in my family. So its kind of a why me . Well you did all that so that you have the treatments available to you so you have the best treatments available to you. So if you feel that, well, that doesnt mean you want to skip that mammogram that year. Yeah, thats a thats a really important message. When i was talking with shauna and doctor, they also really talked about how thankful they are that they had access to integrative cancer therapies, especially those that they received at Cedars Institute for health and healing. Explain those services and how they might affect the side effects of cancer and its treatment. Yeah yeah, i think i think many of us think of the side effects of the treatments, but theres kind of that side effect of the cancer diagnosis, the depression, the anger, the anxiety that comes with it. Think of the psychology supports that the support that they can get through Something Like the institute for health and healing. Think of a nurse navigator. You know what better professional buddy can you get than a nurse who can reach out to you and explain the cancer diagnosis before you go through . You know, doctor, google think of all the meditation mind healing. Think of the acupuncture massage sessions. You can get support groups. All of that is orientation. Me as a medical oncologist, im used to treating patients. I do my analysis. Can i get the patient through the treatment . But i also start thinking of can they recover from that treatment . I need a specialist in recovery to help me with that. And thats really what the institute for health and healing can offer a real overall approach to that person. I remember elek real quickly. He said, i like the massages. They help to calm me down, which was so important for him. Lastly for you, doctor, what advice can you give to those out there who may have just been recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer or any other type of cancer . I think its really important if youre listening to this, is to go to your Cancer Center and see if you have these Services Available to you. I would argue that every Cancer Center should have these Services Available. When you go through these treatments, you want to be the seana, the next seana, you want to be the advocate, the ambassador for these services. Its important for us to highlight the services, make sure that youre aware of them. Its really hard to squeeze them into a busy schedule when youre initially diagnosed with cancer. But contact your Cancer Center fairly quickly. Talk to a nurse navigator and get oriented to some of these services. A buddy system works through the community, through family, but you really need those those professional buddies through the journey. Yeah, and thats what both shauna and alec told me about. Really appreciate you coming in today, doctor. Thank you so much for this Important Information. And if you would like to help improve the lives of those with cancer, you can donate to this years catwalk for a cure. Just scan the qr code right there on your screen. Alex i say it every time, but every dollar we know the community will step up, no doubt about that. Thank you both. Yeah, this is huge news. And joining us now is alexis gray lawson, the Athletic Director at Oakland Tech High School and former wnba player with the phenix mercury. Thank you for taking the time today. An exciting day for basketball fans here in the bay area. Why does it make sense to you for the bay area to have a wnba team . Yeah, i mean, the bay is the bay, right . I mean, its a place to be on top of all of the community that we love so much when it comes to oakland is particularly San Francisco as well. So super excited about the opportunity for young girls to be able to see their mentors up close and personal. Yeah, the bay area wnba team is set to play its games at chase center and practice out of the warriors old team facility. There in oakland. So it really does seem like a logical, you know, decision that this really does make sense. But how much of this do you also believe has to do with the warriors leadership and just how successful its been in building an Incredible Team . Yeah, i mean, i was definitely that kid watching the old School Warriors when they had thunder. We were laughing about that today. So so to be able to be in a position at this point right now, i mean, theyve done incredible in the last 14 years since joe lacob is taking over so i can only imagine the wnba, the wnba team being just as incredible. What does this Expansion Team here in the bay area signal about the success overall . More broadly of the wnba . Yeah, i think that i mean, you look at just the bay area in general, we have what over eight d1 schools in one area and Girls Basketball is just getting better. I mean, Womens Basketball is just getting better. Its developing. And so this is like one of the probably the most incredible times for young people to, you know, get an opportunity. You look at the nil deals, you know, College Basketball has taken off. You know, the viewership has taken off as well. You know, well have an incredible finals that is coming up with the aces and the liberty. So im just excited for the process. And i think itll be pretty incredible. Yeah. When you talk about the leagues popularity, i mean, the 2023 season, i believe was amongst one of the most viewed. And that really shows you that there is support for Something Like this. Absolutely i mean, Girls Basketball is just getting better. Womens basketball, i should say, is getting better. Like where i think becoming more students of the game. Kids are a lot more athletic at this point. And so im excited to see, you know, our young people, especially in high school, middle school and elementary, really get an opportunity to see the wnba up close and personal, especially with so many athletes in this particular area. So yeah, im excited about the growth. Yeah. What does this mean, do you think, for the girls at oakland tech, you know that your your coaching what does this mean for them to have of a professional Womens Basketball team just up the road does it make it feel more real that this this can be their future . Absolutely. Its a reality. I mean, i couldnt imagine at the time i was playing to have a team down the street that i can believe that im there. I mean, you look at even like damian lillard, right . He grew up in oakland warriors fan and now is, you know, playing in milwaukee. Right. And so if you see it you can you definitely achieve it and believe it. So i think for our young girls that are watching, they can, you know, look at it and say, you know, this is going to be me and be able to really impact the game in a different way. Yeah, we really appreciate you coming on the show, alexis, for this exciting news. Again, the wnba set to be in the bay in 2025. Well have to catch a game soon. All right. Take care. Bye. Good chatting with you. All right. We have a whole lot more coming up here on the for today. But before we head to break here, we want to check on traffic around the bay area. And speaking of oakland here, a live picture of interstate 880 here as you head right past the old oracle arena and the coliseum there and traffic actually moving along pretty nicely here in both directions along 880. Given that its about 4 45 here, well be right back. And in weather, lots of sunshine, not a cloud in the sky and a hot thursday. This heat wants to stick around for a couple more days before some rain ould getting 2 of my croissants with a freshly cracked egg for just 6 bucks means your day is off to a good start. And i serve them all day, because im not here to judge what time your day starts. You can get 2 of my croissants with a freshly cracked egg, for just 6 bucks. And i serve them all day. So you can enjoy them for breakfast, brunch, or even brinner. Did i just make up brinner . Can we trademark that . Things will really get more exciting in the city once that wnba team lands in 2025. Lets bring back mark for another full look. Im not going to ask you for the forecast in 2025. Okay. Ill just stick with this weekend, i guess the one word to describe it is warm. Well, maybe even hot. Yeah, very, very hot. Heather, ill just go for a forecast record. This partly cloudy and 75 degrees. Lets just. Thats a safe forecast, right . Why not . But yeah, it is a hot day here in the bay area, even out toward San Francisco or even out toward the coast. This is what you would expect in october as those warm offshore winds deliver that too warm air all the way out toward the shoreline. So weve been dealing with this hot tub pattern basically since yesterday, continuing for today, tomorrow, even into saturday. But then a dramatic cooldown for the second half of the weekend. And into early next week for fleet week. You can see a warm to hot forecast for tomorrow in San Francisco. Lots of sunshine on saturday as well. We will drop off those temperatures, though, into the weekend, especially by sunday. Heres a satellite where you can see this. The big circulation here with the upper level winds. Thats the big area of High Pressure. Thats been keeping us hot. And also keeping us clear. Its interesting. You can see this cloud bank out here in the pacific, but theyre almost running into a wall. These these clouds, the winds actually pushing the clouds back out to sea. So we have lots of sunshine for today. And as you know, very hot temperatures right now. We have lots of 90 to report. You can see oakland, 91, fairfield, 96, san jose, the airport, 94 degrees. Half moon bay is actually cooled off to 84 and santa rosa in the 90s. Here is our live camera looking out toward alcatraz. Theres fort mason in San Francisco and a Beautiful Day here in the bay area, although it is pretty chilly out there. And we are expecting those those winds to pick up once again in the north bay hills and the east bay hills. So definitely want to keep an eye on fire danger overnight tonight. We could have winds going up above 20 or 25 miles an hour. A mild start tomorrow morning. Temperatures in the 60s and then into the afternoon hours. Those brighter colors do resurface on this on this map here. So were just talking about 80s and some 90s, the hottest locations, as you can see here in the upper 90s could be flirting with 100 degrees for your friday afternoon. Then we will begin to trim back on those temperatures, though, as we head into your saturday forecast. But saturday, still a relatively hot day, very warm for the coast tomorrow, mid 80s hottest locations tomorrow in the upper 90s. This big area of High Pressure wants to stick around into the weekend with those with those winds coming in out of the north and northeast. That also increases the fire danger and thats a concern, especially this time of year. We are expecting that change to develop into early next week as you can see, this forecast model , as we put this into motion, well put a pause here into monday. And look at this. This is actually bringing in some clouds. Its still a few days away. Dont get too excited about the rain chances just yet, but this forecast model is bringing in possibly some measurable rainfall here in the bay area, especially up in the north bay. By monday afternoon on monday night. And theres even a slight chance into your tuesday as well. So that is the change coming. Our way. We still have to wait a few days, but still were talking about the heat for tomorrow. Its a hot forecast for tomorrow. San francisco and oakland right around 90 degrees. Santa rosa, 96. Upper 90s out toward fairfield, livermore and you can see san mateo, 93 degrees. So typically, typically were talking about 70s, 80s and 90s. Were just showing you a big map here of lots of 90s for tomorrow and thatll be the case at least over the next for friday. We trim back on those temperatures a bit on saturday, but saturday is still warm to hot and then more cooling into sunday. Still the warmest locations could be in the 80s that change. Well thicken up the cloud cover on monday, 60 and 70s and maybe by monday afternoon we could be tracking a few showers moving in from the north, especially up in the north bay. So definitely cooling off next week. But another hot day for tomorrow. Yeah, thats sort of an intriguing shift there in the weather pattern. Big drop in the temperatures and the chance for showers. Yeah, hold on. Hold on tight. A pretty wild ride. We certainly will. Mark thank you. But as mark was talking about there, i mean, the heat is really on, especially in San Francisco, pushing 90 degrees. So with that being said, we asked image generator midjourney to imagine Sales Force Tower just wilting in the heat. And this is what it came back with here. Sort of like melting and sort of slightly tipping over there. It looks like at the top. Nice. It looks like an interesting architecture. I kind of like it. Yeah, it is pretty in a certain way. Two House Republicans are working to shore up support in their bid to replace House Speaker kevin mccarthy. But as foxs Madeline Rivera tells us, some gop members are now backing former President Trump to take the gavel to the next House Speaker. Be donald trump, reports are swirling that the former president will come to washington tuesday to talk to House Republicans. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor greene says shes leading the charge to draft trump for the speakership. I think President Trump is exactly the right outsider for this. Whether he could even serve is an open question. Trump faces more than 90 charges across four criminal cases, as hes also been noncommittal to join a race that could be contentious. The margins are just too thin to assume that you have something something in the bag. The white house is refusing to weigh in on the possibility of trump as speaker, saying this is something for House Republicans to figure out. Still, they will have to work closely with whoever wins the gavel to push some of their key initiatives, like continued funding for ukraine. House judiciary chairman jim jordan, a conservative firebrand whos running for Kevin Mccarthys old job, is already promising to be tough on the president.
