The subways listed in the court order are located in sonoma, napa, solano and contra costa counties. The contract between Kaiser Permanente and 75,000 frontline workers expired at midnight, and the Union Employees could possibly go on strike on wednesday. The workers say they are looking for across the board raises pension plan improvements and protections against outsourcing staffing shortages. A commemoration was held in mill valley today to mark 30 years since the kidnap and murder of 12 year old polly klaas. Her father, mark, began organizing these gatherings on the milestone anniversary of his daughters death. Klaas founded the class Kids Foundation back in 1994, one year after polly was murdered. Stinson beach fire part of a Multiagency Team of First Responders desperately scanning the waters off marin county sunday for a missing swimmer who witnesses say was pulled under by a shark. We responded and did all that we could. The 911 call coming in just after 1030 in the morning, the swimmer going under off Wildcat Beach around 11 miles north of stinson beach. We launch an rwc, which is a rescue watercraft. Its essentially a jet ski outfitted for rescue purposes. Our rescue swimmers deployed a dye pack so that they could see the area of the current. His team joining crews from the Us Coast Guard marin county fire and the National Park service with a cutter rescue boat. Also launched and in the skies overhead, three medical choppers nearby, several hikers watching on and taking these photos. The first thing we saw was a helicopter flying above. That event was in question in recent days due to the possibility of a government shutdown. But Congress Passed a bill this weekend that keeps the government operating for the next 40 days. And that means the ships, the tours and the blue angels will return to San Francisco this week. If we were not able to come up, sailors and marines would definitely have been, um, um. Sad by that. You know, weve been working towards fleet week for ten months now, along with the tours and the shows the us navy and marine corps bands will play 39 concerts in seven days all around the city of San Francisco. And store owners say they are looking forward to a much needed boost in business. Depending on how many ships we get. And what if we get a carrier across the street . You know, it can increase business anywhere between 10 to 25, which is much needed nowadays. The concerts begin tomorrow with the parade of ships and an air show beginning friday. Organizers say this years blue angels shows will be dedicated to the late senator Dianne Feinstein and to attend events like fleet week. You might have to pay for parking, which brings in revenue for the city, especially one particular meter in San Francisco that brought in more than 17,000 just this year. So far, according to Data Collected by the San Francisco standard, the meter at 3216, pierce street right near presidio and marina green is the citys highest revenue generator. He painted his first mural more than 50 years ago, back in 1972, and tonight hes still creating art. Ktvus amber lee gives us a behind the scenes look at his work. Artist michael reels is enjoying a career that has spanned decades. He paints in his studio in San Franciscos dogpatch neighborhood because its such a magical thing to do to, you know, theres just so much magic, you know, exploring your creative mind. Hes hard at work. The master. The 75 year old recently completed the restoration of the mural at the 24th street. Bart station, one of several murals hes done in the mission neighborhood. He first created the bart mural in 1975 when he was in his 20. As the east oakland native shows the bart train coming out of the east bay tunnel from the embarcadero station to the 24th street station. Its really the people know, you know, that hold up the tracks in in all our societies. Tracks you know, our metaphor for connecting connections connection. You know you ride a train on a track and it takes you from a to b, the theme is unity. This 2023 version illustrates the changes that have taken place since the first mural was painted. And the mural originally when i did it, there were no windows on the buildings. Reels tells me he had the three artists who helped him paint blackened Office Windows to symbolize the demise of downtown offices due to the pandemic. This bart mural is his gift to San Francisco. His artwork has been on a variety of canvas, including album covers and stage backdrops for well known bay area musician carlos santana. This is a the art that i originally did for santana, the that eventually became his supernaturals cd cover. Art rios says the musician asked him to incorporate the title of one song, mumbo jumbo, and other words into the painting. Two artists sharing a bond, their mexican heritage and a mutual admiration. The arts, you know, are sort of like the language of our heart. The arts, you know, is our our highest form of expression. Even even at age 75, theres no stopping reels. He is currently working on an exhibition to be held in the haight ashbury, creating what he calls magic in San Francisco. Komen hosted the return of the bay area. More than pink walk today at the San Francisco zoo and gardens. That event celebrated Breast Cancer survivors and those living with metastatic Breast Cancer and raised money for research and critical support services. Organizers say Breast Cancer awareness is more important than ever as demand for their services continues to increase. The bay area woman with an auto immune disorder who holds the Guinness World record for most push ups in one hour, performed by a woman, just beat her own record. 61 year old holly reese was practicing on august 19th for her september attempt to break the record when she actually broke it during the practice, nailing 1036 push ups. Then ann reese broke her own record again yesterday, completing 1207 push ups. In 2000, two, reese was diagnosed with the rare mixed connective tissue disorder, and it took a decade to restore her health, marking her world record breaks as symbols of resilience and strength. The greater lake tahoe area had roughly 17 million visitors last year pouring in more than 17 billion to that local economy. The booming Tourism Industry taking a toll on the lake itself, though this was the aftermath over the 4th of july holiday near zephyr cove. 8,000 pounds of plastics were removed from the lake after that holiday weekend. And the nonprofit clean up the lake works to remove the litter and educate the public. Our organization actually Just Launched an Environmental Dive Center in Incline Village where people can come, they can, you know, get out and try scuba diving and join the lake, but learn other elements of conservation and Environmental Protection in our classes as well.
