Mangini successfully completed 35 Bombing Missions in the Army Air Corps as a p17 navigator. The plane that was flaunted is owned by the cofounder of the navia winery. The Sonoma County winery that the men on the flight to thank them for their service. While some veterans fall on hard times once they leave the service, many others find success as civilians. Ktvus rob roth spoke with one marine who owns one of the largest veteran owned businesses in california. Its actually kind of an emotional day. Reporter rittenback spent four years in the marines in the 1990s, joining after high school in pleasanton. Ive been around people who have been entered, especially a double amputee. Reporter when he left the military, rittenback went into the Construction Business with his father. He now owns and runs allied Construction Services based in livermore. Its the second largest veteran owned business of any kind in the bay area. He has 67 employees. Grateful. Ive had a great team along the way. Reporter rittenback credits what he learned in the marines for much of his success with holding up his company, which concentrates on commercial construction and roofing throughout Northern California. There are some marine corps core values and integrity is huge. And in business thats huge. Reporter rittenback says he hires veterans when he can and he also knows when so many leave the service they fall into addiction and homelessness. And, you know, i would love to see more outreach and more opportunities for them. The Mental Health is huge. And i dont think we pay enough attention to that. Reporter on this veterans day this former marine honors those who served and feels fortunate for how everything has fallen into place for him.
