Right now, thousands of people along the gulf coast are bracing for hurricane delta it is coming ashore right now, just six weeks after hurricane laura made landfall in that region. Many across southwest louisiana are still recovering as they now face the threat of yet another storm. This time many people are heeding advice to evacuate, there were scenes of bumperto bumper traffic along many of the highways there. I actually stayed through laura and my wife and i said we will never stay through another hurricane again so i booked rooms on tuesday in houston. Hurricane delta is expected to weaken, by the time it makes landfall here and it did just come ashore moments ago, it brings with it lifethreatening storm surge up to 11 feet which can be seen along the southwest louisiana coast and it is also bringing a lot of rain totals, potentially up to 14 inches. Nearly 7000 people remain evacuated or displaced as a result of hurricane laura. That number of course is only expected to rise here, with hurricane delta now hitting that same region. We wanted to connect to life pictures, these are coming in from lake arthur, louisiana, and this is a town and an area that again just took a direct hit from hurricane laura weeks ago. In fact, this latest storm delta made landfall just a few miles away, from where hurricane laura made landfall and again, the region that is still recovering, so much damage from that previous storm and now once again, folks there in louisiana and along the gulf coast being hit once again with another hurricane. Lets get a check of the Current Conditions there in the path of that storm, with meteorologist rosemary orozco. Rosemary . Yes alex as you said, coming ashore right now, as we take a look at what is going on, you can see the entire state of louisiana covered in moderate and heavy rain. And, this is expected to last through the evening hours, as hurricane delta it makes its way towards the north and towards the east. Heres a look at the path right now the wind at 100 mph moving north northeast morse north at 40 mph working its way up over louisiana, and then, we will continue to stretch towards the northeast, looks like right along the border, between arkansas and mississippi. It will begin to deteriorate by tomorrow, but in any case as said before, very dangerous storm surge, anywhere from 7 feet to 11 feet of water expected there along the coastline and when it comes to rainfall amounts ever areas of louisiana, 5 to 10 inches, perhaps even some isolated areas, with 15 inches. Flash flooding, definitely a possibility there. The devastating wind, and, storm surge expected to be quite an ordeal. We will continue to track that as it moves ashore. Heres a look at what is going on for us at home, we are looking at a mix of sun and clouds out, temperatures on the kool smiles at 65 degrees right now and sentences go, low 70s in livermore. We had a bit of drizzle fall in the overnight hours and this morning, but this afternoon, partly sunny partly cloudy skies and we will continue with that possibility of drizzle for tomorrow morning, upper 50s three sentences go, upper 50s in concord, and as we get into the afternoon, a very slight chance that even a few sprinkles for tomorrow, is a weak wave moves through the bay area. 68 the hyatt in oakland, 65 sentences go, similar numbers to what we are experiencing today. We will dry out and warm up into the back end of the weekend and beyond, more details and the extent of forecast for you, coming up. Thank you rosemary. Of next year on the four it has been a huge we can the world, a lot to talk about coming up this weekend on the issue is. Host Alex Michelson is going to join us to talk about an interview he did with a White House Reporter in the midst of the covid19 outbreak which is affecting a growing number of people in the trumpet menstruation. Coming up tonight at prime time on ktvu at 8 00 it is wwe friday night smack down, then be sure to stick around for the 10 00 and 11 00 news, i will be filling in tonight with andre, we will see you right here on ktvu. With a growing number of people in President Trumps circle now infected with coronavirus, the white house is facing a lot of questions about how this outbreak began. Coming up this weekend on the issue is, we will hear from a White House Reporter about the turmoil this menstruation is now facing, less than four weeks before election day. Host Alex Michelson is joining us now to take a look ahead at this weekends show, alex, good to see you, happy friday. Despite happy friday to you alex, good to see you as well. We are joined by jeff mason. He is a White House Correspondent for reuters, has been in a position a long time, former president of the White House Correspondents association. And, he talked about the contrast, today at the white house, versus even a few weeks ago. Take a listen. In terms of being sort of behind the scenes, alex, i can tell you that there has been a change in the last week, being inside the white house, number one, there are fewer people there is a ghost town, because so many people were exposed and have been affected by the separate but number two, the people who are coming to work at the white house in addition to reporters like myself have started Wearing Masks inside their offices and that was not the case before this outbreak, and before the president got covered 19 himself. It was interesting alex, a few weeks back when President Trump visited california, i was chosen to be one of the pool reporters representing the state, and, the White House Press folks asked me to wear a mask. The other reporter said that we all needed to wear masks. But, most of them did not. I saw hope hicks standing a few feet from me, she was not in a mask. We now know that she has coronavirus i saw kaylee mcinerney that day, also not wearing a mask we now know that she has coronavirus. So, it seems like there protocols are starting to change internally, because a lot of their folks are now sick. Absolutely. The president s health covid19 diagnosis and the fallout from that has now led to the commission on provincial debates to the short time ago as you know deciding that they are going to cancel that second debate altogether. What is your sense looking long term, will we see any more debates between President Trump and joe biden . Here is what is interesting about this, alex. The calculus would be, who needs a debate most, would be the person that is the behind. If you look at the polls, President Trump is behind in all most every swing state, and, he is behind big nationally, which leads you to think that he would probably want to there to be a debate, and some of his advisors behind the scenes were telling him this, that its great to have a rally, but if you have a rally and say its on Fox News Channel maybe three or 4 Million People see it. If you do a debate, and 60 or 70 or 80 Million People could see it, like what we saw before and that gives you a chance to reach out beyond your own base. So, the president as part of a negotiation was saying, i dont want to do a virtual debates are joe biden said fine. He called his bluff essentially. So, he scheduled the town hall on abc, and now, the president is left sort of without this debate. You would think that the president would want there to be a debate going forward. One of the questions is going to be, if there is that next debate which would be the week after, what is the format going to be . You know, this next debate which was now canceled supposed to be a town hall debate where the voters ask questions. The last debate was supposed to be more of a standard debate like what we saw the first time. There will be fighting over the format, so we talk about that more also on the show alex we have a great guest Pete Buttigieg the former residential candidate who was actually in charge of some of the debate that prep for Kamala Harris he played mike pence during debate sessions with her and was deeply involved in the preparation pr head. But of course, we got to get to the fly. All right alex looking forward to the show as always, have a great weekend my friend, we will talk to you next weekend again be sure to turn tune into the issue is coming up this sunday, 6 30 in the morning mornings onto weekend edition. Now, the game will finally be played this coming saturday, tomorrow and as claudia reports, it is a game unlike any other. Reporter this game for the oakland roots will look a little different. It just makes sense, being oakland and with the club represents and, the reality for them to put a match like that, its like thank you, you know . We are going to do what we love for a cause we love. Make sure you tune in to the game and continue safe practices. There calling for justice match and players will include athletes from the roots as well as womens teams and global presence. The excitement was immense. We have folks like donna caballo, who is an exhall of fame player, fantastic street footballer, with some folks from other parts of the world, there is a tied world cup athlete, who is going to be playing in the match, and our players were so excited so we are going to figure out how to allocate time, so we have two captains who are going to choose the teams and get them out on the pitch. The point of the justice match was to remove targeting one type of justice or injustice. But, to look at all of the different types of justice, that everybody is working towards, and all of the types of injustice that we are trying to weed out and grow from. Reporter mismatch, they say, started as a conversation, one of many, following the death of george floyd. Despite some of the most frank and intense discussions, but i have been a part of us, ever, on issues of race and issues of gender, race was clearly at the forefront, but we had both discussions being opened up. Its devastating to us on the level of different young guys within my squad, were telling me similar stories. Whether it was their own story or friends of theirs or family members that had experienced something similar, and then i think you know, we, as leaders, theres moments like that where it is really important to open up and be vulnerable, and to let the people know that we lead who we are deep down. Reporter it was a chance for the club that has built its brand on the principle that the oakland roots is more than just soccer, to walk the walk. Despite before all this happened, no one really talked about social inequalities, but now that that is out there and everyone is speaking about it more, you learn more about the club. Like, i see you, you put this out to the world, but now that we are actually in it, and seeing you on the front lines with us it is like wow, i have never experienced this in my 14 years as a professional player. So, they started to express themselves on social media and when the time came to return to play, the oakland route says it wanted to do it while making a statement. Sports teams now are realizing that you cannot really separate your performance on the field and how your players feel and coaches feel and fans feel, from the rest of the world. Reporter so, while it was delayed, this match is still all about the chance to use their voice, user platform, and use the moment, to make an impact. But its not just talk. Its not just asked posting pictures on instagram we will go do it and show to the community that this is oakland, this is what we represent. Its a really cool thing im excited to be a part of, and i really think that its going to be something that will make waves, and that is what we are all about. For us, it is a cooler pattern across the bay area, breezy in some areas, and mix of sun and clouds to last through tomorrow, even a slight chance with a little bit of rain for some, not much, though. Unfortunately it looks like we have lost rosemarys signal here so we will try to reconnect with her, and get the rest of the bay area forecast here.
