Smoke rising from the glass fire as we look over the napa valley. So far it has a burned about 11,000 acres. It really exploded overnight, and unfortunately there is zero percent containment. More than a thousand firefighters are on the fire lines battling the flames. We have Live Team Coverage tonight, Christien Kafton has the latest on where all of the evacuees gorge, and greg lee with the destruction to wines and homes. Tom vacar with details on the homes destroyed near santa rosa, put we begin with Cristina Rendon on the specifics of the glass fire. Cristina . Well, frank, the big unknown right now is how this fire started. We know they are planning a brief update is any moment now with Sonoma County officials. At this hour, nearly 60,000 people remain under Evacuation Orders in napa and sonoma counties. The glass fire exploded overnight, burning from wine country in napa county to eastern Sonoma County. The winds pushing flames towards communities there was tremendous loss between los alamos and oakmont on the north side of highway 12, and sky hawk we lost a few buildings, as well as calistoga road. Reporter the fire is at 11,000 acres and growing, with zero containment. Our bulldozers are struggling to construct a line out there. Luckily weve had plentiful aerial support in the firefight. Reporter a night air attack helped them regroup resources and some make a stand to protect homes. Governor newsom said more ground and air resources are being brought in. Active wildfire drawing a lot of attention appropriately so, a lot of consternation around that region that has been hit over and discovery and over again. Reporter the glass fire is burning in one of the last remaining areas of Sonoma County with no recorded fire history, touching parts of the 2017nunns and tubbs fire scars. Evacuation orders and warnings are in effect for 11,000 people in napa county, and 48,500 people in Sonoma County. Authorities stressing yet again to heed those Evacuation Orders. Unfortunately we did have some people that stayed behind, and might have been burned in some areas. When you do get that highlow siren and the knock on the door, deputies or Law Enforcement officers telling you its time to leave, its time leave. A reminder, even if youre not in an area under an evacuation warning, have a go back ready to help you leave faster and avoid traffic. And officials are asking people not to go back into those evacuated areas until they say it is safe to do so. Cristina rendon, ktvu fox 2 news. As you just heard, tens of thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes or prepare to get out. Tom vacar joins us now. He is live in Sonoma County with the latest on the situation there. Tom, how is it looking . Well, its looking like things are very calm right now, but thats the deceptive part of these fires, because they continue to smolder, any wind gets on them, or they come up to particularly rich fields, they start burning again, and if you dont have easy access to them, and none of this is easy access, then you have the problem for the fire blowing up again, which can happen, and has happened. Almost 3. 8 million acres in this fire season so far. By far the largest most destructive fire season we have ever seen in the state of california since Record Keeping began, and notes the, october one of the worst months for fires, storms, and fires still louis ahead of us. By early morning, the fire that roared through Sonoma County settled down as the winds settled down, leaving behind a scattering of thorough low destroyed homes replete with exploding propane gas tanks. The homes that could not be saved by time for firefighters to put up proper defense line that be proved mostly successful. Amazingly, while some homes were destroyed in the overnight fire, most were left unscathed. This seems to be a direct result not only of the wall of flame but embers cast well ahead of the many fire driven by last nights high winds. At another hill side location, this hope was burned to the ground, a likely ember that caught something on fire and was whipped into a tongue fire that took the home. Yet all around this home, many others completely untouched. This is the first time eve seen a water carrying truck actually act as a fire truck, and the reason for that is this is all hands on deck. Before the tanker trucks came to this home, destroyed on white oak avenue, an engine crew stood by dousing flames as hot spots occurred, but when two tankers showed up from a local contractor, the firefighters could depart for more pressing duties, while the tankers could douse the structure and quickly refill from a fire hydrant a couple of hurricane dread feet away. The firefighting crew quickly found additional critical work in a development on the edge of annadell take park where many trucks sents into the to fight the fires facetoface, while others stood by near the homes. The dense fertile material gave off huge plumes of black smoke, often laying down when winds picked up, an dating the flames to put out more choking smoke and gases that fouled the air all day long. And so almost all of oakmont, which is a 55plus living community, did well. A few hopes lost, but nothing like what it could have been had that been a wall of flame as opposed to just embers, but you get enough embers and then you get walls of flame. That is the problem. Reporting live, tom vacar, ktvu fox 2 news. Tom, we can see the fire trucks behind you there in that neighborhood in the background. That the oakmont neighborhood . Or tell us exactly where you are now. I saw you the past hour. You were explaining how firefighters were staying down there to defend the home while the fire was burning up at the hill behind you . Right. This is the community, i dont know the exact name of it. Its on the edge of annadell state park. Not far from oakmont, which is just down the road a piece. It backs up to the state park, the community, and the two streets, these homes are all literally sticking right into the urban wildland interface, and the thing thats happening is, there are some people that have been sent up into the hills to fight the fire faceto face with hand crews, and these trucks that are down here, theres a bunch over here, theres a bunch over here, all of those trucks are sitting here just in case they have to defend these homes. Now, not too long ago, about an hour ago, the fire was literally, still a small fire, but coming down this way, and they were able to make sure that it didnt get into the homes, and then everything kind of calmed down, but then as you get up the hill, then theres more smoke more of these towers columns, and those columns indicate that active fire is underway, but much farther away. Fortunately its in a state park where there arent a lot of people around right now, and thats a good thing. Lets hope the fire keeps moving away from those homes. Tom vacar, reporting live for us tonight in Sonoma County. Tom, thanks. The fire also burning through parts of napa county, and greg lee is there with the latest on the firefight. Greg . Reporter yeah, frank, good evening. Thankfully the winds have died down at this hour, but earlier in the day, they caused major issues and flareups up and down silverado frail 128, which coup can see on the hillside. Weve seen many homes and wineries damaged or destroyed throughout the napa valley. Firefighters converged on fast moving flames long silverado trail anden saint helena, intermittnt gust ross wind blowing embers from the glass fire around napa county, creating flareups and burning dangerously close to homes. The fact that a fire could start right here when the main fire is so far away does make me worried about the next 24 hours. Fueled by hot and breezy conditions, the glass fire exploded in size, putting out huge plumes of black smoke anytime embers found dry brush to burn. Embers hop scotting neighborhoods, burning some homes and leave others untouch inspected deer park, several buildings burned to the ground, including homes in the American Building of the foothills adventist Elementary School. The school just recently welcomed students back in person. It was hell. At 2 30, this whole area went up. Reporter Peter Emerson evacuated around 2 30 this morning. He returned to survey the damage and found only ashes at many of his neighbors homes. Thats when you know most of the people around here, yeah, its really you know, theres a few hour houses that made it, but not too many. Reporter as firefighters worked to protect lives and homes, spot fires continued to burn through hill sides giving row piper and others in the a jury the worst kind of deja vu of the 2017 fires. We live now a situation where we have our bag packed at all times, so you almost have to get used to it, but it does bring up bad memories when you see the red glow coming over in the santa rosa just like you did before. On the office side of silverado trail, here is another look at white smoke and smoldering embers weve seen, as well as some of these flare ups that continue to persist. A number of winery, been affected and winery owners are beginning to assess the damage. Greg, it was so sobering hearing that man talk about how the situation has gotten so bad up there that you have a go bag packed all the time now, just in case theres a fire. The people up there must be thinking what does it take are for us to catch a break. Yeah, and going to the Elementary School in deer park today, hearing people they say had just welcomed students back in person, which puts all of this gain with an emphasis, because we inner the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. So bottom not only dealing with that, as well as deal with these new fires causing havoc in their communities again. All right, thank you, greg. As weve been reporting, tens of thousands of people are under evacuation warnings or orders at this hour in sonoma and napa counties. Christien kafton joins us now with more on that part of the story. Christien. Reporter yeah, we are talking about a big portion of eastern santa rosa, stretching all the way into napa county. Those are those people who weve been talking about who are now under those Evacuation Orders. As weve been talking about for many of those people, this is an all too familiar story. As the glass fire exploded overnight, sonoma and napa county officials moved to get residents out of harms way, issuing numerous Evacuation Orders. Napa county has issued similar orders from the county line to as far east as lake hennessey. One family evacuated in the dead of night from their santa rosa home. Well, yesterday, midnight, all around us, and we, just, like, get scared, and we came here. Reporter the evacuation area just a few mile away from the coffee park neighborhood, devastated by fire in 2017. Evacuees here say its not the first time theyve had to seek shelter. No, this is like almost a second time, like three years ago. Happened at the same time. And we went to different shelter s, and thats why we came here. Reporter this is the first time theyve had to seek shelter amidst a global pandemic. So they are check like health check first for corona, and they so we have, like, many spots to sleep, and we are keeping is six feet away. Preparing for the influx of evacuees, opening several shelters, with each the sonoma raceway opening its 50acre parking and rv area for those needs a place to stay. You know, as this thing unfolds, we dont know how many people are being displayed, and it is you know, its just a being empty field, so its really only suitable for folks who have an rv or a camper or want to do tent camping, but it is open and available. In just the last half hour, cal fire relayed to us that some of the shelters at capacity, and county officials are working to ensure there is adequate space for people to shelt forget away from that fire, if they need to do that, but to do so in a way that is safe, considering the fact we are still living under the coronavirus pandemic. Christien, it has been one crisis after another. If people want to help fire evacuees, what is the best way to get help to them now . Reporter well, certainly one of the ways you want to do that is to look to red cross, tohoiaagencies to see what they need. They have boots on the ground. Going to be the ones who are in place, who understand what those people need and what their actually needs are at this time. Keep in mind, were not advising anybody to go up there to drop off any kind of donations. That is not what they need right now. They need room for those officials to be able to move around freely. The people going through this need some space so they can relax and try to deal with what theyre dealing with. So, again, youre going to want to go through some kind of an agency, like a red cross or Something Like that to make sure that if you do want to help out, which many of us want to do here in the bay area, that you can do so through an official channel. All right, good advice, and it is such a stressful time for so many. Christien, thank you. We want to take you live to Sonoma County, a zoom News Conference underway talk about the glass fire. Lets listen in. Theres lot of air movement out there moving the smoke around. A lott of smoke around. Great for us to work on containing this fire, and working on putting it out. So weve got firefighters out on the line again today, double shift, due to the lack of resources statewide, due to the over 25, i believe 27 major fires to date, stretching the 17,400 firefighters deployed throughout the state to their breaking point. But our firefighter holding the line, digging in and finding that are in strength to protect the communities that we have sworn an oath to do so. So the fire did make it to oakmont, and into annadell early this morning, but there was a valueient firefight by our local firefighters and our cal firefighters here on the east side of santa rosa to save as many homes that his day could, and the statement i heard is theyve saved far more than they lost. So there while there were indeed structures destroyed and damaged this morning, it was a win overall for a valiant effort for the firefighters to circle up the resources that we did have, and make a concerted attack where we would make the most difference. With that, i will call it end to have report. Okay. Great. Thank you, chief. As chief tony been able to join us yet . I think he was having trouble. Well get him on as soon as we can. So lets go to just an update about the evacuation areas. We have Sergeant Spencer krumm of the Sonoma County sheriffs office. Sergeant . You are muted. Sorry. Our latest evacuation, our mandatory evacuations are occurred in the area of anna dell and bennett ridge. Those are the latest ones out of a few hours ago. As of about 30 minutes ago, i was just notified of her first arrest made of a person who was in the evacuation zone with no lawful purpose. A 17yearold was seen hopping fences in the area of a high school, and was arrested in the backyard of a residence in that area. We are not tolerating anybody being in an evacuation zone who does not belong there. Number one, were asking everybody to evacuate on the Pay Attention to those mandatory Evacuation Orders. If you hair the highlow sirens, its its time to go. If you dont live in that area and enter an evacuation zone, you are subject to arrest and we will enforce the law completely, and make arrests in that case. We have not put out a press release, because i just ordered this, but we will be doing that soon, and, again, i just want to thank everybody for their patience. Please keep your eyes and ears opened, and call Law Enforcement if you need us. Thank you for that update, sergeant. Next were going to go to Santa Rosa Police chief ray navarro. Chief . Thank you very much. So not a lot has changed for the Police Department since this morning. We still have mandatory evacuation zones that are still active and not safe due to the serious threat of the fires. So as sergeant krumm has mentioned, we do take this seriously when people come into these areas, so we have we do have officers that are patrolling the areas for looters, and we are taking a zero tolerance approach to this. Over east of brush creek, mission boulevard, and summerville road is still closed, and no one is allowed back in right now. We are, again, asking for the publics help over the next several days, as we are addressing the evacuated area, and its very dangerous to go back in there, and it gets the way of the Public Safety resources, who are in there trying to fight the fires. That is all i had to report. Okay. Thank you, chief. We may have some questions for you in a little bit. For an update of whats happening at the county Emergency Operations center, lets go to chris goodly for the county. Chris . Good evening, everybody. Real quickly, Evacuation Orders and zones remain steadily as briefed by sergeant krumm. We are looking at six shelters currently operating in the count at this point, as well as were aware of several others that are being operated by a local Community Based organization. We are working with the American Red Cross to open a 7th shelter at sonoma state university. Our focus remains on community sheltering, communications, and engagement. We are starting additional damage sir vase at this time informally. Formal Damage Assessment will be conducted by cal fire, and as always, were urging our residents to touch base with socalemergency. Orging to receive the latest information, as well as information are no such things as where to go for assistance or shelter at this time. That concludes the brief. Thank you, chris. We are also pleased to welcome congressman jared huffman, who is joining us today. Congressman . Yeah, thank you, paul. Just want everyone to know that congressman Mike Thompson and i are fully engaged, as we always have been in these situations, to make sure all to have the federal support available to our Community Happens quickly. Working very closely with all of the other elected officials at the state and local level to make sure that happens. Ill just mention one thing, and then let you get back to the First Responders and others. If you are under an Evacuation Order, and you need to incur expenses, to house you and your family, until you can get because to your house, save the receipts in you can document those expenses, either congressman thompson or i and our teams would be happy to work with you to try to get some federal reimbursement. It is only a few hundred dollars, but it is available to those folks subject to those Evacuation Orders. Thanks a lot. Thank you very much. Yes, save your receipts. And were also pleased to have with us both state senator bill dodd and state senator mike mcguire. Senator mcguire, lets start with you. Thank you so much. Good evening. Always honored to be on with senator dodd and appreciate all of his hard work and his partnership, and, of course, to the Assembly Members as well. This fire is the biggest threat to Public Safety in northern california, and as we all know, additional strike teams arrived last night, both into the sonoma, as well as the napa side of this fire. The state continues to be in direct coordination with both the city and also the county of sonoma. Want to thank the mayor and his Incredible Team and the city for all of their work. And the state is going to ensure that all needs are met, not just shortterm, but whatever need theyre going to be need to be met, shelter, indoor, long term with debris cleanup. Senator dodd and i assure you that we are squeezing every resource out of the system, that is our top priority, working with cal fire, and we are grateful for their hard work. What ill remind folks is we do have significant fires across the state. One continues to burn north of us with the august complex fire, where we saw significant structure loss in both humble and trinity counties last night around the lake. And as difficult as last time was, again, as chief nichol said, he got it right, firefighters saved much more than were lost, and our thoughts with those who lost homes last night. If you did lose your home, please contact your insurance carrier immediately for assistance. Thank you. Thank you senator mcguire. We certainly appreciate your experience in these fires, as we all have, experience. And thank you senator dodd for joining us. You have some thoughts . Well, quickly. I appreciate senator mcguire giving the lions share of really a state response. The governor did declare a state of emergency today in both these fires, in napa and Sonoma County. And, again, you know, this is, you know, people look up at the sky, and theres not a lot of resources, you have remember, the smoke was just too thick today for those big planes to be flying through. They need to be safe as well. We get some clear weather, you know, theyll be back. I know that we did have some helicopters in and around the area today, and, again, we will get ahead of this, and we will start the recovery process. Unfortunately, you know, we do have a lot of experience in this area now, and we know how it works, and well be there, and i do i think its important to know that if anybody, city, county, or any special agency, district, needs anything, they can call our staff,. Were working 24 7 practically, both senator mcguires and my staff, ready and stand big, ready to help. Thank you. Thank you very much, senator dodd. Also have with us susan gon, chair of the board of supervisors, and mayor tom from the city of santa rosa. Chair goran, do you have any thoughts you would like share . Youre on mute. There you are. Thank you, paul. And thank you to our federal and state legislators once again right by our side with the assistance that we need and the heartfelt understanding about what our survivors are going through. All too terrifyingly familiar for us. And i watched the glass fire, and the air resources being poured in on sunday. We were enveloped in smoke, and for recognizing that that fire would ember and come cascading down the hill and over the ridge the very next or the very next evening. And a very similar way to what happened almost three years to the day in 2017. And my heart goes out to all of the folks who lost homes, and thank you, mr. Godly and cal fire for starting to work on the damage estimates. I know im receiving a lot of e mails anxious to learn the fate of their personal homes and their outbuildings, and of course any livestock or pets that they may not have been able to evacuate. You can please call my office at or email at susan. Goran at Sonoma County. Org. We were lucky to get a motel room. They are heard to come by as we evacuated. I really want to thank everybody who is volunteering at our Evacuation Centers. And we are standing up more Evacuation Centers today and during these fires because of the covid pandemic that we are experiencing. Kudos to all of the forecasts in pelosi forecast in puyallup and santa rosa, to make sure we have personal protective supplies, and food. President and we want to help you with this journey of recover, and as you know, know this from personal experience, we will persevere. We are cinema strong. And a special thank you to the First Responders for holding the line in oak pant and many, many other communities. We did lose homes in oakmont. We did lose homes in sky hawk and along calistoga road. We will recover, but because of your heroic efforts, there are fewer houses lost. So thank you once again, and to the great work of police and sheriff for evacuating safely. It was very gratifying to me to see the Santa Rosa Police department whiz plug in oakmont and ensuring that everyone was safe, even though it took me about an hour and a half to get out of oakmont, i am safe, we are safe, and we will move forward. Thank you. Thank you supervisor. And mayor, you have some thoughts for us . Yeah, thank you, paul. Its unfortunate that were meeting this often, but for everyone who is watching it, its this type of collaboration, work together, that will get us through this. We know there are many questions about the availability of overnight shelters, god lip mentioned some of that. Amid the covid19 pandemic, residents in either shelter should proceed to a temporary evacuation point, and there for assessment and potential shelter referral will be made. A list of the temporary evacuation points in santa rosa and throughout the county can be found at the county side or srcity. Org glassfire. To further assist our firefighting effort, we are asking our residents to conserve outdoors and please do not leave your sprinklers running. By reducing demand on the citys system, we can preserve water for critical drinking and firefighters needs. Thank you for doing your part to help this firefighting effort. Thanks, paul. Thank you for those important reminders, mayor. Were going to go to questions now, but before we do, i want to remind our members of our media to raise are in hand 23 if they have questions, and i will call on you. And whether before we get to questions, we have another reminder for our Spanish Speaking viewers. Sylvia . speaking in Foreign Language okay. Well start with mary tool la happen of the cal had a la happen of the press democrat. You were a little garbled, but your question was mainly about are they anticipating any more evacuations, right . Mainly to clarify the number under order. Youve been listening to a News Conference updates us on the situation with the glass fire that is burning out of control in both napa and Sonoma County. We did learn some new information. The fire has now burned 36,000 acres, up from 11,000 acres early this morning. Unfortunately, even though the winds have died down, firefighters are still having a very difficult time with containment, and as of tonight, there is still zero percent containment. There are a thousand firefighters on the line. Five helicopters, 133 engines. We also learned that 68,000 people have now been evacuated in Sonoma County. Another 11,000 have been evacuated in napa county. Six shelters are now open in Sonoma County. Theyre hoping to open a 7th shelter at sonoma state. Also Something Interesting here. One of the fire chiefs was talking and said that they are double shifting firefighters because there are so few firefighters because they are spread so then across the state where we are battling nearly 30 major wildfires up and down california. He said, though, that they are doing the best that they can, be that they are holding the line where they can, and he said the best news of all is that they have saved far more homes than they have lost, and one last interesting note, the mayor of santa rosa was just on a moment ago, and he said that he is asking people who live in santa rosa to please try to conserve water, to reduce water usage as much as possible, not to keep sprinklers on. The reason for is that to make sure that firefighters have enough water to battle the fires, and,s a, to make sure that there is enough Drinking Water for everyone to go around. So, again, once again, the headline of the hour, the glass fire has now expanded to 36,000 acres in both napa and sonoma counties, and there is still zero percent containment, 68,000 people evacuated in Sonoma County alone, another 11,000 evacuated in napa county. Obviously our coverage will continue throughout this newscast and well have more on the weather coming up in just a moment. The weather is playing such a crucial issue when it comes to this fire. Well see i dont if there is any good news and check in with kyle coming up after the break. Jackie, im looking at your mri. Your shoulder seems to be healing nicely. Well, dr. Farrell, it feels really good. Thats good. And. Im sorry. Baby, dont touch that. I dont want you to play with that. singing twinkle, twinkle little star. How i wonder what you are. still singing up above the world so high. Like a diamond in the sky. Im so glad that your shoulder is feeling better. But, how are you doing . Im hanging in there. Vote yes on prop 25 to end money bail. These are live picture from napa and sense counties from sky fox. You can see there is so much smoke. Its very difficult to see anything. We did just learn new information. The fire has now burned 36,000 acres and there is still zero percent containment. Joining us now is cal fire Public Information officer jonathan cox. Jonathan, where do things stand right now . The fire has really grown in size. Yeah, frank, were at over 36,000 acres now, and were really battling multiple fronts on this incident right now. As you can see, on the seated east side of the fire above calistoga, we have a lot of activity there. And were seeing a lot less activity on the sonoma side, but a lot of smoke generation. So different strategies and tactics going on on two different areas of this fire, but we do unfortunately have a lot of open fire line at the moment. As we head into nightfall, what would you say is your biggest challenge, your biggest concern tonight . Yeah, so our biggest concern right now is the structures, and making sure that any area that starts to really increase fire activity, that we get in there and start to protect structures and continue to hold the line in other areas. Its a real dance were doing right now to head contain. If one part of the fire, and thats all while we build our plan for what the fire the area we want to keep it in within what we call the box. So by no means are we out of the woods yet. Were seeing fairly explosive growth on the east side right now, in fact. And it comes back to that, that we ask the public if you have an Evacuation Order or warning that you do leave. Have you found that people are heeding those evacuation warnings and orders . The new numbers that we have now are 68,000 evacuated in Sonoma County, 11,000 in napa county. Are people really listening and paying attention, and when you tell them they need to get out, are they getting out, and thats right does that really help you in terms of battling the flames . Yeah, so unfortunately, you know, this area, this is the third year in a row that weve had significant fires up here, and people have a strong correlation between the damage and the threat of fire. So we have seen a lot of compliance with getting out and evacuating in an orderly manner. To give you sense of kind of a complication of having the public trying to evacuate while firefighters are getting in, and a lot of these roadways that are mountainous are really only passible by one vehicle. So either a car coming down or a fire truck going up, and anytime we meet facetoface with vehicles trying to evacuate the area that firefighters are trying to fight the fire, it just delays us and could at some point make it unsafe for either the public or the firefighters. So we just implore to let our firefighters get in there and do the best work that they can, and please get to safety. Jonathan, the ability of First Responders never series to amaze me what they do. How hard they wo we heard a moment ago during of the fire chiefs talking about how the firefighters are being double shifted, because the resources are so then because there are so many fires burning right now up and down california. How are the firefighters doing . Reporter yeah, you know, ill be honest, this has been a long one. Its been a tough season. Were sitting here just being fall, and were seeing unprecedented fire activity on top of unprecedented fire activity. So i think people definitely have had a lot of time on the lines this summer. At the same time, you ask any First Responder on the line why they get into this business, and its really to help the public, its that common good, that passion, that calling, and this is what they love to do, which is help people and help their communities. So were tired, but were driven, and were motivated just as are citizens of these counties, as well, to get these fires put out. The first 96 hours is all ways the hardest for us, from the time the fire breaks out, until we get enough firefighters on the line. But we have the firefighters out there, and the blood, sweat, and tears they need to do too get some containment. And i think i speak for everyone when i say thank you so much for what you do. Jonathan okay from cal fire, thank you for joining us tonight. Thanks, frank. We have to get the wind to relent and need to see the humidity level goes up to give them some relief. I want to start with what the glass fire looked like yesterday. You can see that little plume of smoke. Here it is today. The smoke has expanded. Theres another feature here. We have southerly were southerly flow happening. Lets talk about wind reports today. You see those gusts in santa rosa and calistoga has falling down to the 5 to 10 mile per hour range. Now you can see this has marched toward sars and why there have been such evacuations. Head a little further to the right of your screen, heading to the east, and you have humidity at 15 , 16 . Those are the troubling dry conditions that mean that we are still under this red flag warning. It is set to expire tonight at 9 00. That is because we are going to see some improvement, and im very happy to say that. For starters, wind is going to be coming down. We had the strong offshore flow happening, but look at what is happening at half moon bay. Here is that southerly flow. That will be enough to make it where the fire is right now. It is making it to the bear right now, and it start cooling us down. If yourat the coast, youre already feeling a big drop in temperatures. In fact, take a look at this. Live look in san francisco, was they were there in the 90s. Now were down to the 70s. A step in the wrong direction would be our air quality which has definitely degrade over the last 24 hours, and tomorrow were expecting it to get into worse, as we look in the north bay in particular moving into that unhealthy level and the rest of the bay moving into unhealthy for sensitive. Its been a rough ride. Im in the north bay myself, and i can tell you, we started with ash falling, and its been a very tough air quality day today. So team we will see some relief at the coast, around the pay. You see those temperatures moving down. Inland, still staying relatively warm. High pressure still in control senate not going to let us completely release that heat until we head further towards next weekend. So we will see some relief as the wind is concerned, but the relative humidity, we should see some improvement. Temperatures coming down a bit, but inland, still going to a bit of an issue. Guys, back to you. All right, kyla, thank you for keeping us updated. We appreciate it. The more on that glass fire. It has now forced 68,000 people in Sonoma County and 11,000 people in napa county to three their home. It started in manchester county before dawn yesterday morning and so far it has burned 36,000 acres. There is still zero percent containment tonight. Vineyards, homes, buildings, and a school, have all been destroyed as flames jump the silverado trail and the lodi river. Tom has all day and joyness us once again with more on the situation there. Tom . Reporter i just want to show you something. Why dont you come down to my hand. This fell out of the sky three or four minutes ago. What it is, its a leaf, but its a leaf that unfortunately has been burned. Now, that continued to burn while it was in the air, and when it fell down, it had finished burning, but thats the reality of what happened in this fire, and that things catch on fire, the wind carries them away, they land on something, that fire lights, and there you go. Up on the mountainside here at annadel state park, you may be able to see this, you may not, but theres a huge column of smoke coming out, and another one off to the right. What that means that have this isnt just something burning lightly. This is something that is actually burning and its up there in the state park, and away from homes right now, but the reason all of the fire trucks are here for the specific reason that they are going to make sure should that fire come don the hill again, and it is already down here once, and firefighters were and hand crews went up there and dealt with it, but if it comes back down, there are a lot of 0 fire trucks here with a lot of firefighters to defend this neighborhood. Same thing that happened if oakmont. So far, weve lost in this season, almost 3. 8 million acres, and the big problem is, other, one of the worst months for firefighters, still lays ahead of us. Tom, what are you hearing . We see the smoke in the hills there behind you. Are you hearing that throughout tonight, hopefully those flames will continue to push away from that neighborhood, but like you said, if they dont, the fire trucks there are to protect us. For people who might be watching, give us a kind of specific location as to where you are. Well, just off to my right, about, i dont know, a half mile or so, would be highway 12. And highway 12 goes between, of course, sonoma and santa rosa. So thats highway 12. Just down the road from there, of course, is oakmont, which is a very large active Senior Community going on. Now, this neighborhood here is not a part of oakmont, but it is its own little place, but its right up against annadel state park. And what happens is, of course, that when these houses were built, they were built into the inland urban interface, and now part of the price is that if a fire come downs the hill, you could pay with your house for that. At this point, things are calm, but we do notice a lot of ash fall happening and a lot of leaves falling, which means there are winds aloft carrying this stuff down to here. Since it is not on fire, because its not on fire, we dont have to worry about a fire getting started, but thats no reason those firefighters are here. They are here to make sure that if something goes wrong, they can do something about it before you lose a neighborhood or you have something awful happen they might not be able to control. That is the situation here right now. And as i say, just off of highway 12, between santa rosa and oakmont, which is just down the street from here. Within the last half hour we heard from local authorities there in Sonoma County that additional strike teams have, moved into the area overnight. They are trying to pour every resource available to help battle this fire. We hope that it just continues to move away from those homes. Tom, thanks.
