Reporter it was a surprise to many when pleasanton announced the tree is sick with an incurable fungus and must be removed. A spokesman said the lions wayside park is a frequently visited park. Removal of the tree is necessary for Public Safety to avoid falling branches and debris while the park is in use. It is notorious for setting branches anyways, eucalyptus trees.
