Today fire officials issued new evacuations. They join is live with the latest developments. These fires keep growing. 330,000. Now reporter and 44,000. How can it grow that quickly. Even if the fire itself only moves a few inches forward. That takes up a lot of acreage. Even though it may not be moving fast. It is still eating up a lot of property. Right now it appears to be about three and 44,000 acres. Stretches over five counties. The alameda. Santa clara. San joaquin. We have been messaging that were going to have to set manageable cases. This is going to be a very long term incident. 20,000 more structures in more Populated Areas are potentially in the past. At the moment, there is just over 1300 firefighters battling this behemoth. It would normally call for 9000 firefighters. Resources are stretched superthin. Only 1000 are coming in the near future. So are possible dry lightning events. Staff as many engines. Volunteer companies. Any equipment that is out there. That we can staff appropriately and get after these fires that are coming in. All of these lacked the key ingredient that usually makes them gigantic. This was not a wind event. Not associated as a major factor. That is the same with the unit. Looking forward. A group her residence is defined Evacuation Orders and staying behind to try to save their homes. They have teamed up in a united effort. Our reporter talked with one resident outside of the evacuation zone about what is going on this effort began the Evacuation Order was given. Residents started to coordinate the pulling of their resources and bring in equipment. This is not something that they endorse. With the limited supply of help, residents tell me they simply felt like they had to do something. This is behind our house. This is recent video taken.
