This morning, fire crews in napa county continue to battle two large wildfires that was started by lightning. The hennessey fire is east of st. Helena and has exploded in size. It has prompted mandatory evacuations. You are looking at new video shot overnight. Some big flames there. Cal fire said the hennessey fire started yesterday morning. It is threatening 200 homes and burned more than 3 1 2 square miles. It is 0 contained. Last night a mandatory Evacuation Order was issued for 20 homes in the hills above rutherford. We are preparing so when the fire comes down the hill, if it does, that we are ready to protect these houses and the fire from jumping across the side of the road. Authorities have warned 200 other homeowners to be prepared to evacuate at any moment as the hennessey fire continues to burn out of control. Theres the other fire that is also burning in napa county. It was also caused by lightning. Its called the gamble fire. Into smaller but it has burned 600 acres. A wildfire sparked by lightning is still burning out of control this morning. Cal fire said the marsh fire has burned more than 2 1 2 square miles. 0 contained. No homes have been lost and the Evacuation Orders have been lifted. This fire has forced the closure of two large parks in that area. Containment also remains 0 in the battle against the deer zone fire in contra costa fires. They have earned more than two square miles in the brentwood area near mt. Diablo. These fires have not destroyed any homes but they have forced the evacuation of about a dozen peoples. The operator of the state power grid, the bay area did not have another day of rolling Power Outages yesterday. A blackout is possible today with tripledigit temperatures in the forecast. It really seems calls to conserve energy are working. The California Independent system operator credited conservation efforts and slightly cooler temperatures for not having to initiate the rolling blackouts yesterday. Cal iso directs pge and other utilities to direct Power Outages when it outpaces supply. This avoids putting to much of a strain on the electric grid. Cal iso estimated 3 million customers across california could lose power. It didnt end up happening, but people were on edge, anticipating the loss. Pge sent out warnings to be prepared and the contra costa expected blackouts to start as early as 4 00 p. M. Yesterday. I dont know if they are taking into consideration how many people are working online, how many kids are on school online. I do think this would have been as big of an issue if we wouldnt have been quarantined. Reporter Governor Newsom spoke against the Service Interruption that happened friday and saturday. He said an emergency proclamation to free up Energy Capacity and lower the chance of rolling Power Outages. It lets users and utilities use backup Energy Sources to relieve pressure on the grid. A flex alert is in affected a from 3 00 until 10 00 p. M. Cal iso asks people to voluntarily conserve energy to take pressure off the energy grid and avoid potential Power Outages. Pge outage map shows several customers across the bay area without power right now, but those are unrelated to the rolling outages. Napa county deputies say 18 yearold nathan garza was carrying out grocery orders to customers when he was confronted and then shot outside the store. Investigators say there was no threat, no argument, they didnt appear to know each other. They have arrested Christopher Young as a suspect. A short time later, they say he has a lawyer and is refusing to answer any questions. I have nothing to say to him. He doesnt need to answer any of my questions. Nothing will bring my son back. My son was a piece of me. He is gone. Nathan garza had graduated from high school in fairfield. He was passionate about two things. Today is day two of nstruction at west Contra Costa County and berkeley schools. Building sit empty as students are home for online learning. Certain hours are devoted to teachers to connect with students who may need more attention. The weather conditions expected to be very hot, very challenging for firefighters on the front lines at these two fires. We are hoping to get another update about what happened with this fire during the overnight hours. Whether they were able to get more containment or a handle on it. One of californias worst heat waves, hundreds of thousands of people have lost power at some point. Most have heard the warnings. There may be more in the next few days. Some customers say instead of the short blackouts they were warned about, they lost their lights and air conditioning for days. That is what causes frustration. They are not honest at all. Police say it happened yesterday morning on murray avenue. Police have not released information about the victim. They do believe the murder weapon was recovered at the scene. Anyone who has information about this should call gilroy police. San jose police are investigating an officer involved shooting that happened near a car dealership. It happened early yesterday morning outside of the infinity dealership which is on tully road. Two burglary suspect tried to run over a police officer. The officer opened fire at the vehicle. No one was hurt and the suspects were taken into custody. Police in san jose, what appeared to be an accidental shooting involving a pellet gun. Sunday morning, on mclaughlin avenue, officers found an adult man with at least one gunshot wound and he later died at the hospital. Police are investigating the shooting, but as of right now, it doesnt appear to be intentional. San Francisco Police are offering 100,000 reward in the search of the killer for six yearold jace young. He was shot to death on the fourth of july while watching fireworks during a Birthday Party in the bayview district. He pled guilty to numerous crimes attributed to the Golden State Killer. He has agreed to plead guilty to 13 counts of murder and kidnapping and robberies and in exchange prosecutors have agreed not to pursue the death penalty. A new report is slamming the Oakland Police department and libby schaaf for the handling of the deadly shooting of a homeless man. Four officers fired 22 rounds at him in 2018. He was found in between two houses in west oakland where he was asleep and had a gun. He was shot after waking up. A federally appointed monitor for the Department Released a report criticizing opd chief. At first kirkpatrick cleared the officers, but her decision was reversed and all officers were fired. Civil rights attorney representing the family reacted to the newly released report. The culture here is such that the chief who was hired as a reformer and was supposed to change the culture of the department really fell down in her responsibilities.
