Well, state Health Officials say glitch that caused a backlog in reporting coronavirus test data, well its now been fixed. Health and Human Services secretary mark galley said today bottom line, the data system failed. That is a quote there. Dr. Galley said as many as 300,000 records may have been backlogged. Governor newsom is calling for an investigation. The trouble began july 25th when a server outage created a delay in records entering the states case tracking system, and that was the beginning of several missteps. As a result, we instituted technical changes that allow the records to flow into the system more quickly. These technical changes were supposed to be temporary. However, they were not later disabled, causing further delays in our reporting of lab data, and creating backlog. We discovered we are not receiving data from one of our largest commercial labs for a period of five days. Dr. Galley said server upgrades have now been made and the secondary system has been put in place to value daylight lab report data. The Oakland Unified School district it teachers still havent come to an agreement on how Distance Learning will work and the School Year Starts on monday. The soon said the teachers, for the first two weeks of class, will offer one hour of live interaction with their students. Talk with families about technical materials, and take attendance. The two sides are still negotiates issues, including how long the school day will be, and how much prep time teachers will get. The district says 25,000 computers it ordered last month are arriving this week and next week for students in need. This is a computer that you get to keep. The tentative plan calls for at least two hours of virtual interaction between students and educators per day, and depending on the age of the student, an hour or more of work the children must complete on their own. District superintendent Vincent Matthews saying in a statement that all sides clearly listen to input from families and saying quote we are unified in our commitment to each and every student having the best possible learning experience while learning from a distance. We heard from parents and students that they wanted more connection with their peers and teachers than was possible last spring. And in oakland, police are investigating a shooting that killed one person and wounded at least three others. This is video from a citizen app showing officers arriving on the scene at fairfax avenue around 10 00 last night. Officers say they immediately saw two people who had been shot and two others who were also shot nearby. One person died at the scene, and another was rushed to the hospital with lifethreatening injuries. So far police have not released information about possible suspects or a motive. Lets try to solve it. The deficit, about 50 million over three years, a result of increasing costs but declining enrollment.
