It is an honor and pleasure to be here with you. I wanted to give more details about the process we issued yesterday. A couple of weeks ago we reissued a reopening framework for schools in california. We did say that counties on our monitoring list should not reopen for personal instruction until there off that list for at least 14 days. We did in fact as well issue an exception that could be implemented for our youngest children. There is a process that we have issued yesterday and in Elementary School which is k6 could potentially apply for an exception to this waiver encountered, counties on that monitor list. To provide more detail, a superintendent or equivalent can review their safety plans with the need to follow along with their Health Guidance as well as any other public Health Guidance from the cdc and they need to be consulting with their local communities that could be staff, labor unions, and we wanted to be a Close Partnership in the community. They can take that into account and they need to post their plans for their sitespecific safety plans publicly. They can submit a waiver. The local be taking several things into consideration. They will want to be assured that the plan has a lot of detail about how they will make sure the kids are in small stable groups not mixing with other groups and safety plans for Health Screening checks, face coverings for all and there will be strict requirements to comply with our rePublic Health requirements. The assistant superintendent says once they are aware of the process, they will work with the board and community to see if the waiver is something they can move forward with. Schools and counties are allowed to reopen at any time for inperson learning. For the counties on the list that includes every county in the bay area, schools must get this waiver approved to reopen. School leaders have to present the reopening plans to their local health officer. Health officers will consider the health and safety plan and look at their coronavirus status. They will consult with the state Health Department to accept or deny the waiver. The application has to have the support of peer groups, and community groups. Right now parents are split on whether or not they want their kids back in class.
